Using LJ in English is affecting my life. 'I deserve' is 'me merezco' in Spanish, and a little while ago, I said 'ah, me deservo-- espera, no, ¿cómo era la palabra? Ehhh, ME MEREZCO!! Si, si, eso. ... Que verguenza.' *HEADDESK*

Okay, movie post. I've been busy. *g*

First, yesterday morning, I watched The Departed and oooh, it's really, really good. The performances were awesome, along with the idea of duplicity, and the morbid humor. Great plot, great music, good dialogue, so-so cinematography, but that really second to the story in this kind of movies. There's this moment, especially, that got my attention, when Madolyn (haha, I had to look up her name, omg XD) shows her picture to Colin, the first thing he does is hide it from sight. When Bill sees it, he stares at it, and then hangs it up. It's such a little detail, but it's so telling of both of these men's personalities. Lovely. And then the ending shocked me big time. It was a bit too much, but it was good.

Then, at night, I finally watched In The Mood For Love, after months of having burnt it. And Wow. I really do see now why Wong Kar Wai is such a respected director. The story in itself isn't the greatest thing, but the way it's told... It was gorgeous. The scenary, the costumes, the music the photography, omg. Just beautiful. Also, the little games the main actors play (whose names we never find out, how awesome is that??) were just so smart. I'll be giving this one and 2046 (which I still haven't seen...) to a friend of mine, since it was his birthday on Saturday.

And last, but not least, I saw The Science of Sleep today, and a;sldfldfkj but I LOVED it. Gael García Bernal was great in this one, Stephan was such a complex, childish and amazing character, Just as Stephanie was. I hadn't seen a movie in a long time that had me smiling through the entire thing, and it's just so filled with crack (albeit delicious crack) and yet, it isn't tiring or hard to get at any time. And, as a pseudo-artist, I can say that the sets are just AWESOME. Love, love, love. I hearted the language mix, although I would've appreciated a bit more of Spanish (still, there was a 'puta madre' in there, so XD). Ahh, Michel Gondry, never, ever change. ♥

Now I should really go or I'll never finish my homework o_O

Oh, yes! The Departed rocked. It was a very entertaining movie from start to finish, and I was very pleased with all the performances from all the actors. You know how sometimes when you watch a movie, there's one actor you're not satisfied with, not in this movie.

Also the whole picture thing, I noticed that too, and I loved that little bit of detail.

Do you know that I've been looking for "In the Mood for Love" but can't find it to rent? I don't want to have to buy it since foreign films are kind of expensive here. But I'm dying to see it!

Oooh, Science of Sleep! I was so impressed by Gael, I thought he proved himself as an actor in La Mala Educación, but in this one, wow. He was just fantastic and I also loved the ending, which I thought was extremely depressing. Oh, Gondry is just a genius and a treasure as a filmmaker.

Exactly - everyone gave such great performances! I was a bit blown away by Leonardy DiCaprio, I honestly didn't expect him to do so well XD I should really try and watch more Scorcese movies - I remember when Gangs of New York came out I was still a minor, and couldn't go see it, ;-;

I'll upload it for you! I don't know exactly when I'll have the time to do so, but I'll try. :)

For me, he proved himself in Amores Perros. He was so awesome in that one. Really? Depressing? That's the great thing about movies like this, they're so open to interpretation, 'cause I found the ending quite hopeful - like, he's realizing people can actually change from what he expects them to be, when he sees the finished boat. :)

Oooh, watch Gangs of New York, Daniel Day-Lewis should have won an Oscar for his performance, he is hands down the best villian I've ever seen on film. The first ten minutes of the movie are my favorite, the music, the setting everything. Watch Taxi Driver, even though it is extremely violent, good film. Also loved Casino, but adored Godfellas.

I thought he was excellent in Amores Perros as well, but what surprised me was his two performances in La Mala..., both male and female, it was outstanding.

I interpreted the ending as depressing because he would never let go of his dreams and always dream instead of live reality. He runs away with Stephanie only in his dreams and not in reality because that's the best he can do. I don't know, you're right though it can be interpreted in different ways.

I watched in the Mood for Love a long time ago, and I remember I didn't like it... and I can't tell now why... *scratches head*

I loved The Science of Sleep, I really want to watch it again! Although I was with friends in the cinema and watched it in german, which sucked. Thankfully though the spanish and the french (wait, there was french, right?) wasn't translated so it was all a bit better. I fell right in love with Stephan. :x

Aww, that's too sad, but hey! That's an excuse to go see it again! I know I want to. Only family films are translated in here, which is just great - I hate dubs with the passion of a thousand suns.
