The Doctor is so incredibly messed up in that, like you said, he just needs people to stay with him, to adore him forever, whether or not he's willing to return the favor. And I just loved writing that fight scene, oh yes (although, weirdly enough, it almost entirely came from a dream of mine o_O). Thank you for the lovely comment!
