A monster a day keeps the doctor away.

Well, I saw Cloverfield today. Meh, it was okay. Truth to be told, the best thing about it is its WONDERFUL publicity campaign, which was intriguing and creepy and had me OMG SO EXCITED about it.

The actual movie, though? Not as good. It was decent in the claustrophobia feeling, and the 'insider' POV makes it a bit scarier. I also liked that it wasn't predictable (unless maybe at the ending, when you remember the tape was found in 'a place formerly called Central Park' and know that this is it) and they actually went and killed all the characters. Cool.

Now, I know the hand-held camera is the POINT of the movie, but damn, do I wish it wasn't. You can make it just as emphatical with normal camerawork and the story would benefit from a score and proper, non-blurry camera angles. But oh well. The monster was... weird? Those first glimpses of it when you can't see that much of it were pretty good and creepy, the last ones not so much. Better actors would've been cool as well. Hud aka 'annoying guy holding the camera that likes to think about hobos on fire' was, well, really annoying. And dumb. When we came out of the theatre my brother said that no joke he'd been so sure he was mentally retarded when they first gave him the camera in the party, lol. So yeah, less stupid jokes and more monster, kthnx.

SO I'M TORN. I liked seeing the emotional breakdown of all of the characters and the fear and the complete confusion - but I think that's something that works better in writing, the sticking to one POV part. Because my inner cinema whore? Is demanding information. I want to know what happened and how it happened and where it happened and I want to know it now, writers. So, yeah. Dunno. Fic would be sort of awesome, though. Crossover fic.

Truth to be told, I would've digged it real hard if it HAD been Godzilla. Boo.

Also, all of those people that had to go out of the cinema because of the shaky camerawork? ARE PANSIES. I get horrible motion sickness just about anywhere but I was pretty fine and chilling with a giant bag of popcorn and was perfectly okay.

They showed the trailer for Iron Man and I'm actually excited for it. Weird, considering my hatred for Tony Stark is somewhat unfathomable. I never truly liked the dude, but I can't stand him ever since Civil War. More than Captain America, even! *le gasp* (that's another weird thing. Civil War happens and all of the sudden I'm almost lukewarm about the guy. And I didn't even read far enough for his death! I DON'T KNOW.)

ETA: Oh, yeah, you want to know how the title was 'translated' in here? It was: Cloverfield Monstruo. WORST. MOVIE TITLE. TRANSLATION. EVER.

Well at least you didn't fall asleep DURING the movie - I always take dramamine for motion sickness, and I've actually used them JUST so I could go to sleep. I once fell asleep on a chair in a party because I accidently took an extra one, lol.

I've seen so many reports of people going out to throw up or 'vomit on the stairs' and other classy stuff like that but no one even got up while watching it...
