You know, I'm reading Young Avengers, and while I'm liking it (however fast-paced it is, but that's comic books for you), the controversy about Hulkling/Asgardian is driving me up the wall. You know me, I'm all about teh slash, and when I heard about them I was all 'omg yay, canon slash!' but then it all ESCALATED, and the letter wars ended up being more notorious than the comic itself, and ugh. Letters like 'OMG THIS COULD KEEP A 15 YEAR-OLD BOY FROM KILLING HIMSELF!!' are just as stupid as ones saying 'OMG THIS IS SO DISGUSTING I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER MARVEL COMIC!!', because really, they're just comics, for heaven's sake.
It's all fine and dandy for comic books to have gay protagonists, but it's not when the story is based about them being gay. Sexuality just is, and I don't think people are supposed to shape their lives based around it - it's not like people build their lives around the fact that they don't like lettuce, do they? (and yes, I do know sexuality isn't as mundane as lettuce, thank you very much).
I don't know. This stuff just... confuses me. *scratches head* The only thing I know for sure? People are wanktastic. And that's all.
