nekare: (colorful Doctor)
I finally got the guts to watch the Who finale. Er. Uh.

Doctor Who 4x13 – Journey’s End: )In short: I’m aware of how thankful we all have to be to RTD for having brought Who back, but boy, am I glad that his time is gone and that he will finally stop inflicting his personal traumas on us. BRING ON THE MOFFAT.

In other news, I read Persepolis the other night. It was very, very good, and also very devastating. I cried rather a lot, if I have to admit. I am in awe of Marjane Satrapi; to have endured so much, and to be able to come out on top – it takes one hell of a woman. In all, it was just really well done – the tone with which it was written, so warm and heartfelt; and the illustrations were so beautiful. I’ve been aching to see the movie for a long time, but I haven’t had the chance. But really, it really deserves the read.

I saw Hellboy II on Saturday, and oh, it was wonderful. Even better than the first one, indeed, and much, much more magical, especially in all the imagery and worlds within worlds and such. It was just so much fun, aside from gorgeous-looking – it humanized every character, the action was impressing and I laughed an awful lot. Thumbs up, in all accounts. (Abe was AWESOME on this one. Hee. :D) I have to say, though, that I don’t like Salma Blair’s acting all that much. And I say this with all the pain in my heart, because I actually like her very much. Oh well. And really, Guillermo del Toro is such a Neil Gaiman fanboy – Princess Nuala? Lol. I really want to go see it again, in any case.
