I haven't had the chance to watch SPN - I came home late yesteray and then I went off to a friend's birthday party, which was lots of fun, and, like most parties, was held mostly in the kitchen or outside, lol.
I just finished reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon, and oh, it was just marvelous. Set in a world where the Holocaust never happened, or at least not in the same scale, and where most European Jews were relocated to a small part of Alaska for them govern at will for 60 years (which are about to end), Detective Landsman finds a dead junkie in his hotel, killed execution-style and with an unfinished chess game on his nigth stand. In pure detective story style, the case isn't what it seems, and it uncovers quite the conspiracy, both religious and political.
Chabon has such a flair to write characterization - all of his characters are so detailed, so human, and story is thrilling, meaningful, and so, so very addicting. I'm becoming quite the fan of Chabon's work - I really want to read the rest of his books. So yeah! Reaaaad it. And then tell me what you think. :))
Wikipedia says the Coen brothers signed up to direct and write the film version in early 2008, which sounds sort of fantastic. Here's hoping!
This was book 40 of the year! Only ten to go so I can each my goal, oh yeah.
