My high school friends finally deigned themselves to give back my old, battered copy of Good Omens (which they had been passing around for more than a year, and which came back more battered than ever), so I did the only sensible thing; re-read it for the nth time. Ah, so much love. I really want to get a Pratchett book for the long (oh so long) flight to England, but I'm dubious that I could get one in English in here. Mmm.
I'm reading Rant by Chuck Palahniuk at the moment, which has been good but pretty gross so far. Classic Palahniuk. The problem with his writing, regardless of how good it is, or that I actually like it quite a bit, is that it makes you feel like humanity is just this horrifying, disgusting waste of space. That's just the way the man writes, I guess, all doom and cynicism and filth-as-beauty, but there's only so much of it you can read in a short space of time before you start feeling like despair.
Definitely not taking this book for the flight, because after 20 hours with nothing else to do but read it I might just try and choke myself with the in-flight peanuts bag.
