SO! I finished the last book of A Song of Ice and Fire a few days ago, and I'm already feeling a bit lost with no more massive intriguing books to read. But I also can't wait for the series! It looks absolutely brilliant.

And now that I finished it I remembered that we won't get to see what happens with this set of characters for god knows how much time, and now I'm CURIOUS about what happens to both queens and Arya and her creepy assassin training and Sansa and her machiavelic new 'father' and stuff (Petyr has always been somewhat creepy, but he's ESPECIALLY creepy around Sansa). I almost wish GRRM had just cut it in two for all characters. AH WELL.

Also, wow, but Cersei's such a bitch in this book. I mean, you can see she loves her children over everything (and her birthright over them), but wow, is she callous. And her double morality in this - how she hates that she won't inherit because she's a woman, and how she's not treated as her father was, but she doesn't care to do the same to others. Margaery's not exactly as sweet as she makes herself to be, but she's downright angelical in comparison. I'm really curious as to who she's sleeping with... Also, I wish we'd gotten at least SOME Loras/Renly scene. I was really hoping we'd get one when Catelyn went into Renly's tent after they'd spent the night together there to 'pray'. Ha, pray, yeah. And it's WEIRD how changed Jaime has ended up being. Did not see that one coming, really.

So while I've missed Jon and Daenerys and Tyrion, the next book will also have a bunch of not so interesting characters, won't it? I mean, Stannis is a bundle of apathy and bitterness, and while Davos is probably the most moral man in the entire series after Eddard Stark (and look where that got him, being slightly nice just gets your head chopped in Westeros), well, he's a bit boring, isn't he? And while I like Daenerys quite a lot, her chapters always happened so far away that it felt like you were being taken away from the plot.

I really want to see Bran again though! I've missed him, and Summer and Meera and Jojen. Does anyone miss Rickon? I want to know if he's still alive though! And I want to see more of ZOMBIE!Catelyn, which, wow, but I did not see coming. And while Brienne chapters were sort of annoying because all she did was wander around and do nothing for the plot, I really don't want her to die. SIGH. (Theon was really annoying as well, insufferable prat that he is. Asha is remarkably cool though.

In any case, I love this series so much. I was spoiled for some stuff, like Drogo and Dany's baby dying, and sort of that Robb was going to die in book 3, but I really wasn't expecting it to be like that (bloodiest wedding ever, man. In hindsight, I love how everyone kept remarking on the musicians playing so badly, lol. And to think I went 'HO, I LIKE HIM when we first met Walder Frey in book 2...) but overall everything was new and surprising and nothing was what I expected. I do love that. Even though I kept hoping for Robb to march into Harrenhall while Arya was working there, or at least for her to see her mother once more, but I can see that these books are pretty much devoted to taking innocent characters and messing up their lives in all ways possible, haha.
