I finished my part of my Design Fundaments project, and now I only have to wait until Monday to put all the pieces of the icosahedron together, yay.
Eeeeh, I went to the FIL!! (the book fair I've been gushing about) It is AWESOME to see all of those books together. You kinda never want to leave. The design book stand was such a hard-on that I couldn't believe it - I went by myself, so I could stare and gush all I wanted without my brother bitching about how much his feet hurt and whatever. Anyway, I sooooo wanted all those books. So much. AND there was one about mangaka from the US, and I was like OMGWTFBBQ!!1ELEVENTY! when I saw that it included art from
nyanko_chan. I wanted to buy it, but it was kinda expensive, and there was only like, two or three decent artists, so.
I ended up buying:
- Rayuela (hopscotch) by Julio Cortázar. I've wanted to read this for a looong time, especially since this is my favorite short story writer, and 'cause this book is famous, considering that it can be read either in order, or in a random series of chapters - 7 first, 45 later, then 23, something like that - and it'll still make sense.
- Travesuras de Una Niña Mala (Mischiefs of the Bad Girl) by Mario Vargas Llosa.
- Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. a children's book, but I couldn't help it because it's so, so damn beautiful. All in watercolors and alsfjalsdjf.
- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. In Spanish, boo.
- A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick. Also in Spanish. I usually try to buy books by latin american authors in this fair, 'cause I'm not that fond of translations, but this one's cover was so preeeetty that I just couldn't help it.
- Fashion Illustration Now. The shiny compelled me. It was expensive, but so many illustrations make a happy, happy girl.
I kinda wanted to buy the Spiderwick books, because the artwork's so pretty (I have been known to buy a book only for the illustrations. I do want to do that for a living, after all), but my tight-fistedness won in the end XD I looked everywhere for an Oscar de la Borbolla book I wanted to get for
i_hate_music, but no editorial seemed to have it and they were all like 'uh, I guess Alfaguara'll have it' and then I got there and they were like 'nope, have you tried ediciones B?' and the circle started all over. *weeps*
I've already made the math, and I spent 1,108 pesos (roughly, 110 dlls). *DIES* IT WAS WELL SPENT, THOUGH. Andalucía was the invited, er, 'country' this year, so, a hundred - a hundred, people! Picassos are in town right now. And it doesn't seem like I'll be able to go see them. *WEEPS*

Gastar en libros nunca me ha parecido desperdiciar el dinero, de todas maneras. A ver si puedes ir a ver los Picassos! (aquí tenemos un museo llenito de ellos) :D

Ender's Game? Cool book. I think I've got an old .txt file somewhere with it being English. You want?
I need the time to read non-technical books again, I see.

Nah, thanks - I can't really concentrate on real books in the computer, which is odd considering how much fanfic I read o_O
