I've just finished reading October breaks our branches by
angelgazing, and it was too lovely for words. People, go read it, like, right now; you won't regret it. S/R, october 1981
So, I've finished
giventofly37's gift, Harry/Ron; which I'd never written before but it still was nice, to say the least (although R/Hr still has my heart) and I should probably try and write more of it. As usual, I didn't manage to remember the actual promt until I was finished, and then I had to squeeze it there somewhere (this is what, the fifth fic I which I have to do the same? so people, don't be angry if your interest is flying in there somewhat forgotten XD). And I tried to make it fluffy, I swear I tried but my fluffy muse is on vacation right now. Sorry!
And since I'm curious: How is it that you people have the inspiration for your writing? A picture? A snippet of conversation? Just what exactly makes your brain go into haywire until you actually hold a pen and write an idea?
EDIT: Wee! I've finished
hexes_jala's Hot Gimmick fic! And it wasn't short-short! (Just remember dear, I've only read the first 10 chapters. don't expect the greatest IC Ryoki ever.)

I find that inspiration can come from almost anywhere. :P No help, I know. It's usually a combination of things, but for me, bits of conversation (though late-night conversations usually inspire crack!fic) and music are my biggest inspirations. And I play with ideas and scenes in my head for weeks before I ever put them to paper. And flists are good places to find plot bunnies as well.

And crack!fic is definitely the better XD (And easiest to be inspired)

I'm the same way with music -- there are some lyrics that inspire me, but it's more the mood.

About the inspiration thing? I totally need a first sentence. A first sentence that feels right. Can't do ANYTHING without a good first sentence, so it can happen that I've got the idea, the time AND the feeling to write a story, but no first sentence, and that's the end of that. *sighs*

So that's why your first lines are always so cool and pretty; who would've guessed. I care more about silly details like dust and the ending line, though.

*smiles* Well. I suppose, yeah. But it's really my downfall most of the time, because I just cannot write if I don't have a first sentence I like, and if that is the case I can get, ah, a little desperate and annoyed, and then - rien ne va plus. *sighs* Well but details & the ending line are important, too, so you're not missing anything either. And I like your last lines.
