These cuts were brought to you by Carl Barat's voice because omg but I can't get tired of it
So I had a cousin of mine read Neil Gaiman's short story The Problem of Susan today. She's a rabid Narnia fan, and a few weeks ago we were bitching about the ending (I haven't read the final book yet, partly because I haven't been able to find it in English and the translation sucks but mostly because I already know how it ends and I'm SO MAD about it. It's such a shitty, unfair ending), and I mentioned this story to her and she said something along the likes of 'OMG LET ME SEE IT PLZ', and I said 'SURE!' and THEN I re-read it and realized that, huh, it's really not appropiate for a 13 year old. (that with, you know, the bestiality and the whole nine yards, blasphemy themes aside). But I still let her read it, and she liked it although she seemed quite shaken afterwards. Um. I just hope she won't tell her parents... Anyway, the sad part was, the rest of my cousins kept on mocking her for liking to read. I've never had to endure that because I'm the oldest of all the cousins, and they usually leave me alone (and/or I just ignore them), but... HOW can someone say 'Uuuuugh I've never read a complete book in my life' and say it with PRIDE? It just makes me sad. Out of ten cousins, only three of us like to read. Is it coincidence that we're the ones that get picked at the most in school? (well, used to, in my case. I learned to stand up for myself during high school)
So, remix authors have been reveiled and wee,
das_kabinett remixed Companionship Is You (Harry/Ron) and did an amazing work! That story always bothered me because it was pretty much plotless, but she managed to give it a wonderful backstory and THERE'S HARRY AND RON BEING COPS SUPER AURORS THAT WATCH CSI. The story ended up as pure win, and making complete sense. Go read it! Companionship Is You (The Stealing Is A Crime Remix)
I wrote a remix of
ishafel's Vigil, which was hard, because the story was quite rounded up already. In the end, though, I think I ended up with a strong Sam voice, and I do love to write children, so that's good. :) Weirdly enough, I started respecting a lot the original author's style, but near the end it becomes a very me story, i.e. lots and lots of one-liners *g* I'll repost it in here tomorrow, but here's a link, for now: Vigil (The Waiting in the Dark Remix).
Heroes 1x19 - .07%: OMG YES FINALLY MY SHOW IS BACK. *holds it close so it'll never, never go away again* Aw, there was no mention about the sad departure of Peter's lock of emo hair. ;___; I digged the emo hair. PETER VS. SYLAR SHODOWN! A;LSDFKJALSFJ. Mohinder goes on on being STUPID. Pretty, but stupid. PETRELLIS FOR THE WIN. Seriously, they were all awesome - and Nathan's line about how without Peter 'he doesn't know who he is'? AND PEOPLE WONDER ABOUT IMDB CALLING THE SHOW BROTHER INCEST SUBTEXT. *shakes head* (nah, I don't slash themmuch but... Come on.) THERE WAS NO CLAUDE, ME IS SAD. Isaac is dead, boo. What a way to go, though o_O Also, nooooooooes, I'll miss the pretty arkwork. ;___; BUT REALLY? ALL I WANT IS FOR IT TO BE TUESDAY ALREADY AND GET TO WATCH THE NEXT EPISODE. BECAUSE OMG ;ALSDFJALSDFJ.
Supernatural 2x19 - Folsom Prision Blues: HAHAHA, HANDCUFFS FOR THE WIN. I liked this episode a lot - very reminiscent of Night Shifter, even if not as emotionally investing. Still, Sam and Dean look v. v. pretty in orange and lousy shoes and omg I WANTED TINY TO GO WITH THEM. *criez* Agent What's-his-name (honestly, no one seems to know for sure) was pretty cool and the lawyer was kinda awesome and the Deacon reveil was mighty cool. I kinda wanted to see a car chase, though. Also? DEAN WOULDN'T TRADE SAMMY FOR SMOKES. OMG. MY SHOW, IT WINS AT EVERYTHING. And now I'll have to copy/paste and say: BUT REALLY? ALL I WANT IS FOR IT TO BE TUESDAY ALREADY AND GET TO WATCH THE NEXT EPISODE. BECAUSE OMG ;ALSDFJALSDFJ. And no, that doesn't mean you can spoil me about it. All I know about it comes from the promo and the director cuts.
Doctor Who 3x04 + 3x05 - Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks: First off, OMG WHAT LOUSY TITLES. Okay, that being said: It was okay, I guess. Not awesome and not bad. I liked Solomon and Frank and Tallulah with three Ls and an H and her pig-headed boyfriend whose name eludes me. The Doctor was pretty bitchtastic, though. Dalek Sic was meh. Especially once it was sporting fancy shoes. You just can't take Daleks seriously while they're wearing fancy shoes. I did love that scene with the daleks bitching about their bossby the watercooler. And Martha was pretty smart and awesome and she really deserves to get shagged a lot by the Doctor. Um. *shifty eyes* And the ending, Deux Ex Machina much? *eyeroll* Also, apparently, solar flairs/lightining bolts transmit DNA. Who knew?
Wow, you guys deserve a prize if you've made it all the way here o_O So, the runway for the costume design I entered was on Friday and OMG I'M SO SHOCKED WE DIDN'T WIN. [/sarcasm] The dress didn't end up looking that bad, not really, but... Anita's the only in the group that can sew, so she did whatever she wanted with the dress and it ended up SPARKLY. Yes, in all caps and bolded. Girl diggs her glitter, I guess. The rest of the team? Not so much. So bah. The runway itself was pretty fun and we laughed a lot and there were some seriously kick ass costumes - one of which was a girl dressed up as a fireman, with only the hose being the entire dress. Yeah, imagine the wolf-whistling XDD And the guy I like showed up, which was nice. :)) I'm just glad it's over, truth to be told.
Tomorrow, I'll bitch about Superman's lameness. Why yes, I know you're all excited about it. *g*

I ask myself that every time one of the kids at my school tells me, "This is the first time I've ever checked out a book from the library." And I just don't know what to tell them.
I actually haven't finished reading the stories in "Fragile Things" I have no idea why. Also I'm behind three Doctor Who episodes, every time I keep forgetting to download them.

OMG WOMAN WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU! XD Have you read the one I was talking about? It's really brilliant, even if quite the mindfuck. o_O Haha, I didn't see last week's ep until yesterday, along with the new one. You should at least watch 'Gridlock', that one was brilliant (and tear inducing!).

And I agree with everything about the Daleks double-parter, slightly spookily so actually! As soon as it got into DNA it all got a tad 'wtf' didn't it?

I KNOW. It was like '... okay, I know physics don't mean crap in Who 'verse but... Seriously? o_O'

Doctor Who meanwhile...it has to earn its love back. Especially after these past two episodes.

Ugh, I know. And next week's looks so... CGItastic. *sigh*

And yes, dammit, the Petrellis are so incestual! The whole lot!

I KNOW, OMG. o_O (well, Nathan/Claire creeps the hell out of me, but love triangles between Nathan/Peter and Peter/Claire? Bring it on, baby. *g*)

Also, Nathan/Peter Nathan/Peter Nathan/Peter. That is all.

I see your Nathan/Peter and raise with Peter/Claire. While in the same story. *smirks more evilly*

It is a worthy challenge, but. *hands* I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing the Peter/Claire! I mean, age difference. He's old enough to be her father. Belatedly, I realise that the exact same thing can be said of Nathan/Peter, but, um ... hey, look over there! It's Peter, with emo hair! *runs* xD

I haven't read The Problem of Susan, but I most sincerely want to; The Chronicles of Narnia were a pain to read. (Which is why I haven't read more than the first two.)

I thought they were... okay. If I'd read them as a child, I'd probably had loved every minute, but now that one can graps at least a bit of the Christian allegories and roll one's eyes at the sanctimonious tone of it, well, it loses a bit of its charm. And that short story, well - it makes Susan a REAL individual, and it's all kinda sick and weird and it features Alsan/White Witch.

DEAN WOULDN'T TRADE SAMMY FOR SMOKES. I loved that line. Because of course Sam is Dean's to trade how he sees fit.
