Okay, I'm writing PotC:AWE fic. Yes, I know. Whatever. Anyway, I have a question:

What would the kid be named? I can't forever call him 'her son' 'the kid' or similars, it sounds too odd. Will sounds so very mary sueish, Jack would be an AWFUL name considering, uh, everything, and James sounds weird. Bill? But that'd be weird too.

I'd like something simple, but I know that if I call him Alan or whatnot it's sound OMGSOWRONG too.

AAAARGH, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. Tell me, my flist, what do you guys think?

I think she would name him William. Seriously.

God I hate that fucking ending. SERIOUSLY! HATE!

Mmm... perhaps he'd remain William and not use nicknames? *ponders*

I dunno, it was a bit, uh... lame. Thing is, it's a far too important scene - without it, the movie stays open for a fourth movie, and with it, it closes the trilogy, even if it's in a weird way. It seems odd to put so much weight in an after-credits scene, especially considering that one after CotBP was such a comic and simple one. *shrug*

Yeah, that's what I think she would do.

And I am angry it happened at all. No way that Will and Elizabeth deserved that. I think it's pretty assholish to not give them a happy ending. I spent three movies invested in their relationship and that's my payoff, just so the writer can feel all proud of himself that he didn't give them a typical Disney ending? LAME!

Will was the only one that spent all three movies just trying to help the people that he cares about. Plus, I think having his son be brought up without a father is the last thing Will would want, considering what happened with his own father. So that doubly pisses me off. And then Elizabeth is a strong, competent woman so of course she can't be with the man she loves, which triply pissed me off.

I really, really, really hated it. Heh.

Hee. You're gonna like my fic, then. I'll stick to the rules, yeah, but not all of them. :) *is cryptic*

BUT! Yeah. Actually, my first thought after Will comes back was 'yay! She can join the crew now and they can be pirates extraordinarire together forver!' And then was a bit 'wha--? they can't be together? Why the hell not???' so, yeah. *sigh*

Yeah. I was like "Wait. What. NO!" I kept waiting for Calypso to come and release him from it. If it had been me, as soon as he gave Elizabeth the box with his heart in it, the curse would have been lifted. Or he could have transferred it to his dad. I mean, without Will, she wouldn't have been released!

Gah. Every time I think about it, I find more about it that makes me MAD!

Actually, there was, apparently, an explanatory scene in the movie that got cut out during the editing process to save time. Good job, people, removing the only scene that explained it all. There's a lot of info and meta here that explains the ending; the curse was for 10 years only; Davy Jones was stuck because after Calypso didn't come, he stopped doing his job, bonding with the ship. However, the whole curse thing was do the job for 10 years, have a faithful girl waiting for you at the end of it, and the soul is released (the green flash you see when Will's ship appears in the bonus scene-let). Yes, the ship should always have a captain, and that's the open-ended part, but theoretically, according to the writers, Will was released from the curse and brought back from the dead to Elizabeth so that they could get their own ship and go on their own pirate-y adventures.

As for the kid - the father was Bootstrap Bill (William) and so was Orlando's character. I'm pretty sure Will's son would be William, as well.

Yeah, I think she would name him William, too. Not Bill or Will, but William.

Not Will, but LIAM! I've always thought that was a way more kick-ass nickname, anyway. ;)

Haha, I love that name (used it in short stories, and all), but it doesn't really seem to fit... Is it really Irish or I'm just crazy? *scratches head*

WAIT. I JUST GOT IT. *HEADDESK* OKAY, FORGET WHAT I SAID AND I'LL BE OVER HERE, BEING ASHAMED OF MYSELF.

I should just call him Guillermo and say 'HE LIVES IN THE CARIBBEAN! HE DESERVES THE SPANISH VERSION OF THE NAME!' *cough*

lol.

WELL THEN.... you could just name him 'Bilius' and pretend that he becomes a Weasley later in life. :-D

... Oh man. That'd actually be kind of awesome XD

"AND YOUNG BILIUS TURNER DISCOVERS HE'S A WIZARD AND IS SHIPPED OUT TO HOGWARTS WHERE HE MARRIES A FIERY REDHEAD* AND PRODUCES A LOAD OF CHILDREN AND IS VISITED BY HIS FATHER EVERY TEN YEARS OR SO BUT NEVER TELLS ANYONE ABOUT HIS PIRATE HERITAGE BECAUSE HE OMG PINES FOR NORMAL. EVEN WHEN HE CAN SHOOT FLAMES OUT OF A STICK. OR SOMETHING. ALSO, HE QUITE LIKES HIS GRANDSON (GRAND NEPHEW? DON'T REMEMBER), RON BECAUSE HE'S FUNNY. THE END."

*Why do all redheads in hp verse are always 'fiery'?

On IMDB he is listed as "Young Will Turner." There ya go!

I loves you, btw.

Well there goes my ability to choose, then. I feel... limited. Boo. (Bah, I'd already decided to call him 'William' and not use nicknames anyway. Sod IMDB, it'd be confusing to have two Will Turners running wild.)

YOU BETTER, MISSY.*g* (It's... probably not what you're expecting, though. *cough*) Any prompts? I don't exactly have it all figured it out entirely yet.

I don't care, as long as there's some angsty loving. Guh, can't wait.

Prompts? I DON'T KNOW. I'm entirely uncreative as of late.
