Well, I've just finished Deathly Hallows. I'm tearing up a bit but over all, it was a fantastic, fantastic book, and I loved it to pieces.

I felt a bit cheated to know that so many theories (Harry being a Horcrux, Snape being in love with Lily) were true, but the rest of the book makes up for it, as, especially the first half, which was surprising and exciting and pretty creepy. I cried at Dobby's funeral (odd, that, I'd never liked him much, but... it was such a heart-breaking scene), at Fred's death (NOOOO!) and at the very end, not because it was especially sad but because it's over, it really is finished. *sniff*

I'll probably write a more detailed review once I've re-read it and dunno, recovered from it, or something.

You know, I feel like I should feel cheated as well, at how the theories were right, but it's like, I simply can't be, because the way JKR actually did it all was just so, well, fantastic that it overcomes all of that, if that makes sense?

That's exactly how I feel. I was shocked that so many of the long-fostered aforementioned theories were true, but they were written out in such a way that they felt fresh and exciting.

Exactly, those little details that were far from perfect just fall flat in the light of the entire book and its awesomeness. It really was a fabulous way to close the series. :)

Mm, I agree--Harry being a horcrux fell kind of flat and anti-climatic for me. But the whole first part--the mystery behind Dumbledore, the truth behind the Hallows, and all that, seemed exciting and new.

But LUPIN! LUPPPINNNNN!

Exactly - it was a good balance between the things everyone's been theorizing for years and the brand new, surprising stuff.

LUUUUPIN COME BACK! How long till the 'Remus/Sirius in heaven' fics start being posted, eh? XD

Yeah, I liked it too. Some things were overly contrived (Hello, Deathly Hallows; McGuffin and Deus Ex Machina in one!).

And I could kick Remus' arse for being an idiot, oh, 90% of the book. And the Ron-hate will flare again after you-know-what.

I didn't like the epilogue; it somehow seems... hurried, in a way. Neville as herbology prof seems totally right, however.

But there were so many scenes that made up for it. Snape as a *DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* undercover agent was guessed, but still - so frakking cool. Especially since he was *not* a good man. Or a nice one. Not at all. Oh. "Are. You. Mental?" Best line. Hehehe.

Ah, Remus. He was such a prat, but I do think it fits with his character. *shakes head*

The epilogue was a bit lame, but I do like a happy ending (although a better-told happy ending would've been loads better), and really, it's JKR and it's 17-years-old. It's not that surprising. Still, Scorpius for the lulz XD

It was wonderful, wasn't it? And also... are you in mourning with me over my poor darling fictional man?

MOURNING INDEED. Poor guy. He finally achieves a teeensy bit of happiness and then he croaks. Really, there's no justice in this world. *snif*

Er... I do hope you were talking about that man. Because if your icon was a hint, or something, well... it flew right over me and I concentrated on the man I'm mourning. *cough*

Ofcourse I'm talking about Remus, you silly girl. I only used that icon because, well, I somehow managed to not have a Remus icon. I do have a Tonks icon though. I'm sorry, but not so much a fan...

I have a way of talking myself out of believing the theories -- so when it all happened, I was still shocked. I was shocked at Fred's death, mainly because in the beginning when George got hurt, I was telling myself, "Okay, one's wounded; she's not going to kill one of them now!" And then I was wrong. I just can't believe it's over.

I know! I always was a bit 'pft, it can't be, come on, it's too cracked out, so I did boggle a bit at that. o_O

Yes, I cried about Dobby too! First time I cried in the book (got a little misty-eyed a couple of times before that though). And I'm sad about Fred. And, wtf, why didn't we get to see Remus' death? And, :( my beloved Snape is gone... but he was wonderful!

Yeah, I do wish we'd seen Remus' death, although seeing him (and Sirius!) again, was just lovely. *sniff*
