I'm curious, because I've just made this dessert with my brother:

A question to all of you folks in far away countries: Do you have María cookies? I'm guessing this isn't only a Mexican thing (I'm fairly sure they must exist in other parts of Latin America and Spain), but they're just such a there, that it's hard to imagine someone not knowing them, not when everyone here has spent their childhood eating them in anyway possible.

Anyway, just asking because my brother decided to make lime and galletas María pie this morning and mmm, it is so very tasty.

Continuing in the food theme (CAN YOU TELL I'M SO SO SO HUUUUNGRY? We're supposed to be waiting for my mom to come home to go eat tacos and SHE'S NOT HOME YET AARGH.) I watched this show on tv called I think 'Bizarre Foods' and they were discussing Haggis (I just stared in horrid fascination at the way its made. Oh man, I'd never eat that, really, NEVER) and in the end they mentioned Tongue tacos as one of those bizarre foods they were going to see in the next show or something and it made me LOL so hard. I find it fascinating the way our culture tells us something's alright or not; just look at the bit on top, us Mexicans find tongue tacos completely normal and delicious but I'd never try Haggis - and I'm sure a Scottish dude with a healthy taste for Haggis would find tongue tacos repulsive. *shrug* Ah, planet earth, you're so varied and wonderful. ♥

In other news, it seems that Potterdamerung's been boring for the mere fact that all the wank happened early with the realease of the leak. Ah, it's just HI-LARIOUS XDDD

There are imported ones in the market, and Marie cookies, which are close but less crisp and more buttery. However, give me Marias and a bog cold glass of 2% and I'm HAPPY.

I had them in Bolivia and they were the best. I was at this store that sells stuff that is imported and they were soooo good. I found another brand that wasn't so good at my local grocery store, but yes we have them in the states :D

that pie sounds delicious, I wish I had a slice.

One time, someone offered my best friend Haggis and she nearly died.

Oh, nice to hear that, I'd be sad for you guys over there if you didn't have them XD

Boy, I'm sure I'd turn green if someone offered me a bit. o_O

Ya sé, ha de ser un mundo cruel y frío el que no tenga Marías a la mano. o_O

We have them...or at least something looking exceedingly similar in Aus. Except they're called Marie biscuits, and mum always used them to make cheesecake and slice bases.

Dunno if they taste different though. Hmmm. Probably.

Mmm, who knows. We use them a lot for pie bases too, so they have to be pretty similar in any case.

¿Te puedes creer que nunca he comido tacos?

No idea. o_O Lots of butter, I'd say, although they're actually quite light and crunchy. *scratches head*

Hmmm... yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen those before. They come wrapped in this paper-y thing, and aren't in a box, right?
