Guys. I know you're all sick of me spamming the hell out of your flists by now but there's only this one (and, er, the fic... *shifty eyes*) and I'm done, promise. *whistles innocently*

Okay, so I'll first go out and admit that I did like it. It's not as sloppily written as Twilight and there isn't as much wangst as in New Moon, so that's definitely a good thing. As always with these books, there are always hints that there's something more, a bigger plot beyond Bella being everyone's favorite snack, but we never get to see more than a glimpse of it. *sigh* As I've said before, Stephenie Meyer is not exactly a good plotter. Anyway, that thing, in this case, was the whole 'YAY, MEXICO'S FILLED WITH VAMPIRES!1!' which was kinda wicked and made me lol because DUDE. Vampire wars. In Spanish. During the war with Texas and/or the US. COOL.

(And who wants to bet this Maria character was especially pissed because that asshole Santa Anna had pretty much sold her lands to the foreigners, haha XD)

Anyway, my rants continue to be on the 'OMG BELLA IS SUCH AN IDIOT' way, because really, if my boyfriend had forbidden me to go see my best friend? I would've dumped him on the spot. Instead, Bella angsts a lot but DOESN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT and Jacob proves to be the sole good character of the series by STEALING HER AWAY ON A MOTORCYCLE. OMG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

About that, well, I've trolled around some comms and I'm honestly surprised at the Jacob hate. I'm a bit like 'bzuh...?' because I honestly find his bubbly self and confidence and cheekiness so very endearing. ♥ I don't like Bella that much so Jacob/Bella isn't OMG SO OTP to me, but I still like it because, really, have you noticed how Bella is better written when she's with Jacob? She's less-whiny, somewhat funnier, and a much better person, over all - I mean, I CHEERED when she hit Jacob. CHEERED. Because that's a NORMAL, HUMAN reaction, and I've wanted her to hit Edward all the series long, ugh.

The battle at the end was okay, I guess, mostly because Meyer has already learned that one has to keep one's narrator in the fight if you want to keep the action interesting. Also, I'm all giddy that YAYZ, JACOB/BELLA IS KINDA CANON NOW, LOL LOL. Those scenes were win, too, they work much better as star-crossed lovers than Edward/Bella do.

ANYWAY. The Cullens were cool. The werewolves were cool. Even Edward was cool (especially in the tent scene), but Bella continues to be fail sauce because honestly how different is 'I DON'T WANT TO BE THE GIRL THAT GETS MARRIED AFTER HIGH SCHOOL' to 'I SOOOO WANT TO BE THE GIRL THAT WANTS TO DIE AND SPEND THE REST OF ETERNITY WITH MY VAMPIRE TWU WUB!' Perspective, girl, that's what you need. *shakes head*

So there was much to rant about, much lols to have (and ooooh, did I lol) and overall, it was an enjoyable, easy book. Not many braincells involved but that's just fine. And now my wrist aches from typing so much. Ouch.
