In my epic struggle to find yeast (which was actually pretty easy to find once I remembered the most likely place to have it, but it's in an old neighborhood I hate to go to by car because the streets are really narrow and there's no place whatsoever to park and it's HOT because there are no trees and it smells FUNNY and stuff), I went to a taco stand that was THE PLACE to go while I was in high school. Oh man, good times. So many memories. PLUS, there's they're the best barbacoa tacos in town, so that made me happy. Very happy, actually. Yummy.

I should've bought more yeast, though, I only got 100 gms because it was the less they would sell but once I got back I realized I could've like, saved it and stuff. *headdesk*

In other news, Msscribe and her batshitness are back, and now I can die happy. THIS IS THE BESTEST WANK EVER. SERIOUSLY. SO FUNNY.

Are you careful with the spines? Or do you crack your books open to make them lay flat?

I'm not that careful with my books, but I don't go out of myself to hurt them intentionally. The most damaged book I own must be Howl's Moving Castle, because a)I've read it an incredible amount of times and b)I lent it to a friend of mine and SHE KEPT IT FOR MORE THAN SIX MONTHS and probably did nefarious things to it. (she once asked if she could COVER IT IN PLASTIC so it wouldn't get THAT damaged. My horror, it was large. *shakes head*

Do you use bookmarks? Or do you dog-ear the corners? If you do use bookmarks, do you use those fashionable metal ones? Or paper?

Bookmarks, I've never been able to bring myself to dog-ear a book. As much as I like fancy bookmarks and have about a bazillion ones in multipiple shapes and colors, I never seem to be able to find them when I need them, so I always end up using whatever's closest, including napkins and receipts and tore pieces of notebooks and right now, I'm using a somewhat pretty tag from the last pair of jeans I bought.

Do you write in your books? Ever? If you do, do you make small marks, or write in as much blank space as you can find? Pen or pencil? Highlighter? Your name on the front page?

Nope, not ever. Never have, I've always found it somewhat disrespectful (BOOKS R SRS BISNESS, PPL). My mom used to highlight every single book she read, an habit she carried away from College, and it used to drive me mad. I do, though, highlight most of my textbooks (and scribble in the margins. And doole little stars. And if it was especially awfully written like last semester's Aesthetics textbook, write 'OMG YOU AWFUL WOMAN, LEARN TO WRITE, DAMNIT THIS IS FOUL' on the sides. Um.) because that's easier to study from.

Do you toss your books on the floor? Into book bags? Or do you treat them tenderly, with respect?

My books are aaaaall around. I tend to carry a book in my purse at all times (because I'm obsessive like that), so they're always a bit scratched and whatnot.

Do you ever lay your book face-down, to save your place?

Sometimes, but not so much because it NEVER works and I always end up losing the page I was in.

Um--water? Do you bathe with your books? Hold them with wet hands? Read out in the rain? Anything of that sort?

Weeell I don't have a bathtub, so showering with books is out of the question, of course, but I usually protect them from water an awful lot anyway. I like them dry, thank you very much.

Are your books lined up on a bookshelf? Or crammed in any which way? Stacked on the floor?

In a perfect world, they'd all be prettily arranged in a bookshelf, but I own too many books for that, so my bookcase is completely full (with second and third rows, even), and I have lots and lots in my closet and in a trunk by my bed and, whenever I buy more books and haven't figured out how to arrange them into something resembling order, they usually stay in piles either on the floor on on my drafting table for months at a time.

Do you make a distinction — as regards book care — between hardcovers and paperbacks?

Well, I take the wrapped-around-cover-thingy out from my hardcovers while I'm reading them so they won't get all wrinkled (because they're usually pretty, yo), but that's about it, and the book usually gets somewhat abused on the way. My paperbacks I carry around everywhere (that's why I usually like paperbacks better than hardcovers), so they're pretty wrinkled and stuff.

Really? Oh, it usually makes my day - it's somewhat cathartic, seeing people being stupid XD

Oh, Ms. Scribe ♥ She's already provided me HOURS of entertainment and now this!? Awesome.

It was almost tl;dr but... I can't help it. The lady fascinates me. She pisses me off like almost nothing else, but she fascinates me. *pets*

(I am also stealing the book meme!)

Oh man, I KNOW, it just gets better and BETTER and it is awesome.

Have you seen her responses to the rest of the people in F_W? They're so lol-ariously passive-agressive, haha XD

I like it when books are flat, but I have a handy book-reading stand that usually takes care of things.

I've never been able to bring myself to dog-ear a book.
I know!
There's a cup full of bookmarks on my desk. When I'm not there, random napkins or papers will suffice.

hee your textbook notes

My textbooks are crazy highlight/note-filled (a lot easier than copying into a set of notes), but I just...can't...write in any other book.

and now I'm talking too much about myself. bye! -waves-

Oh, believe me, that textbook deserved the hate. The woman seriously refused to accentuate anything and when she did, she did it WRONG. Argh.

Haha, yeah, writing in actual books would be like, desecration, or something. *g*
