Yeah, my dad is into it too, but it's gotten to the point where I can give snobbish sighs about some of the things he says/listens to. And it's cool when people use old rhythms in new ways for interesting music.

You should try out Guards! Guards! first to see if you'll like it. There are so many Discworld books (I once read seven in a week!), and they can be divided into cycles focusing on certain characters. The City Watch and Death cycles are the best, but some of the stand-alones are pretty good too. Oh, and Death is my favorite character.
