I'll post about my squee tomorrow, but right now I just wanted to talk about Bela.
I said to myself: If someone described a show to me about a strong, independent, conscience-less thief of supernatural objects, who doesn't care about anything but money and that is bitchy as all get out and sexy, and that stands up to people twice her size - if someone described that show to me, what would I think?
I'd think: AWESOME. WHEN CAN I START WATCHING.
So that's my way of saying, yes, I do like Bela. Sure, her character needs depth and the whole mysteeeeerious dark past is cliche, but she has potential.
The point being: I think we all, and I'm including myself in this, get a bit hung ho about the show being about the boys and no one else and yes, we do tend to dislike some of the girls that go near them. Which is really stupid but we've all been guilty of it sometime. But if you actually think about it - SPN does have a big share of strong women. I actually miss Jo a lot, because while yes, she was never developed that much as a character, she was strong yet naive and somewhat capable and yet, most of the fandom hated her on the spot.
So. I dunno, trying to see these girls as separate entities to the boys has really helped me realized of their awesomenes.
Aaaaand I'm not quite sure of what I'm talking about anymore but it's late and my brain is still covered in snot so WHATEVER.

People have been pointing out, though, how every guy seems to lose his smarts around her. Like Dean not having a witty comeback in Red Sky. I don't think the writers planned it like this, but...
But when someone has already taken over the whole situation and comes up with a reasonable-sounding solution to everything and let's say I try to come up with something of my own, I just say, " Umm, that's right." Or I offer some of the lamest ideas ever. Dean's all cool when the situation's all open, but when someone just stays nonchalant and does everything first, all the legs are knocked out under him.
I'm not liking her character, but I don't feel like I have to. At least her and not some all-cute all-powerful female hunter who has liek sparks yay!
