And my main reaction?

EW EW PLEASE NO.

I loved Rose, don't get me wrong, but her time is up and it's Martha's time to shine, damnit and people should just get over it. I wouldn't be against a come back... in like, ten years, or something. Just. Not now. Ugh.

I'm going to repeat exactly what I said in another friend's journal:

I just can't see it as being anything other than a train wreck. Doctor Who's biggest asset has always been flexibility, this inability to let go of the past is going to slowly strangle the life out of the show.

Train wreck, exactly. There's just too many people to keep track on right now - There's Rose and Martha and Donna (who is the actual companion of the year, and yet she'll get no screen time at the rate we're going!) and Jack and the Rani and the Master because I wish it so.

It's just... too much. And too soon. *headdesk*

IT WAS TOO TEMPTING.

(But really, I'd already figured it out already, that with the Rose-fen in my flist going OMG THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVAH in their cuts and the sane-fen going 'ER, I'LL WAIT AND SEE?' and the rest going 'OMG THAT SPOILER THAT HAS EVERYONE DEPRESSED'. So.)

I like Rose, and I'm really interested to see how they do it. But at the same time, it could fail spectacularly. I remember thinking at the time that the rumours were going around that it was too soon -- it's only been one season. I don't know anymore.

That's exactly the problem - it's just far too soon. It also takes away all of the emotion in Rose's departure (which, as downright wrong as it was, at least it was kinda grand, you know?), and just. ARGH.

*sigh*

I'm… concerned. But also curious. The show will either tank at that point or raise itself considerably in my eyes. The trouble is, many, many versions could satisfy condition A.

I'm mostly curious because that will be one hell of a train wreck. *headdesk*

Dunno, I just hope it's handled correctly. With Rusty on charge, though, I can't see it that way, that with the metaphorical hard-on he has for Rose-as-a-Mary-Sue instead of the wonderful girl we know she can be.
