Okay, so the show continues to be cheesy and silly and have awful special effects, and yet, I'm enjoying immensly. Character-wise:
Beth: Oh, Beth, Beth, Beth, she's the one that makes me keep watching the show. Barring Fleur de Lis, which made her character all wonky, she's just so smart and resorceful and bright, and I really, really like her. It's weird to see a strong female character in television that doesn't include said girl having to know karate or something, and Beth can be kickass and strong-minded by just never surrending.
Mick: Could it be that Mick's getting traces of an actual *gasp* personality? Oh my! But yeah, he is. He's still the stereotypical brooding, heart of gold, vampire detective that is always yearning for his human life, but dunno, he's getting somewhat interesting
Josef: While watching Jason Dohring in action is always a thing of beauty, I do wish we'd get a broader spectrum about who Josef is meant to be. Even in B.C. an episode which was supposed to have a lot to do with him, he's hardly there. Which is sad.
Morgan/Coraline: Honestly, I like 'Morgan' better than Coraline, because Morgan is actually interesting - she's quirky and sort of weird and unsettling and feels very much alive, while Coraline is just the walking cliche of the femme fatale vampire. (okay, so the entire show is a walking cliche, but let's ignore that for a second, k?) I honestly wanted Morgan to, dunno, be Coraline reincarnated or something (it's Moonlight. It so can happen.) and be her own person because YAY ANGST and YAY INTERSTING STORYTELLING. That said, her shower scene with Mick was STIFLING HOT.
the shipping: Can I say it? I think I can. I ship Beth/Mick like whoa. The just... work, together, if anything because it's true, they make a pretty good team. The 'waaaaah you're my guarding angel!!1!' is terribly lol-tastic (and why is it that poor Sophia Myles always gets those lines, the poor woman), but the rest of it... I'm so there, baby. Besides, the music and setting help loads in their last minutes of the episode confessions, lol. (so yeah, the final moments of Arrested Development and 12:04 were kinda awesome to me.)
And yet... Coraline bores me, but her total psycho and wrongwrongwrong relationship with Mick is intriguing as hell. So.
And oh man, that's rather a lot of blabbing about a show that's supposed to be a guilty pleasure, isn't it?

The US version is a comedy, really, the series format works wonders and it's more of a telenovela spoof than an actual soap: and I think what sold me on the show is that Betty and her boss are strictly platonic and surprisingly believable as friends. The characters are very endearing, the cast's very funny and all the class, gender and racial issues are - dare I say it? - surprisingly well handled. The show's earnest and colourful and kinda naive like Betty, but it's certainly not stupid. Dorky, campy fun at its finest. XD

So with you on the Morgan/Coraline thing, and Mick yes. I just agree. A lot.

Yayz for agreeance, then. :) Ah, do you imagine what would this show be with actual good scripts? My, it'd be so awesome. XD
Apparently, even Shannyn Sossamon or whoever the hell that's spelled wanted Morgan to be a separate entity as well. ;__; Oh well.
