An aunt gave me a C&A gift card for Christmas and I went there today to see what I could find. Turns out, the clothes in there are AWFUL. Incredibly ugly and cheap looking and just ew. So I ended up getting two scarves, because they were the only non-ugly things in the store, lol.
Then mom, my brother and I went to have Mexico City style al pastor tacos. MMMM, YUMMY. I love DF style pastor, but they're so hard to get here (our kind of al pastor is slightly different and not as yummy) and I didn't get to eat some tacos the last time I was there. Which is criminal, yo.
Sold Out Completely, The Beatles RPS, John/Paul. On of my favorite fics of the exchange, this is just brilliant - evocative and well-thought and just so very good. Set during their touring days. (and it even comes with visual aid!)
Words, Words, Words, American Gods. After his mother's death, Shadow meets three enigmatic women and discovers that all stories are true, though not all are real. Just brilliant, it fits wonderfully with canon, and with Neil's writing style.
The Journey West, American Gods. How Monkey comes to America. Short, but packs a lot of punch into it.
Relics, The Mummy. Stones and bones and hearts waiting to be weighed.. Wonderful, lyrical portrair of Ardeth.
Toil and Trouble, The Prestige. Angier doesn't drown. 'What if' from the ending of the movie, it's a bit too plain, but it still works.
All This History is Just a Mystery to Me, Bourne Identity Series, David Webb/Nicky Parsons. Jason, trying to figure out who he really is. Note name in the pairing. I really liked it, it had such a lovely feeling to it and had an interesting development, pairing wise.
Three Dead Man and the Women That Did Not Mourn Them, Bourne Identity Series, Jason Bourne/Marie Kreutz, Jason Bourne/Pamela Landy, Jason Bourne/Nicky Parsons. She did not choose this life. Wonderful character studies, of three very different women and the man that ties them together.
La Primavera, The Time Traveler's Wife, Alba gen. Wonderful moment in Alba's life, which fits so well with the canon.
Domestic Disturbances, Arrested Development. So very funny, it reads like a real episode (especially the last bits, haha).
Public Interest, The Fifth Element. In which a reporter tries to learn the truth. And calls Korben Dallas' mother in the process. I laughed so much at this, it was just spot on and so very well written.
Second Grace, The Royal Tenenbauns, Richie/Margot. It's a bit too serious to fit properly with the canon, but it's quite poignant and evocative by itself.
This Other Life, Pushing Daisies, Chuck gen. A lovely look into Chuck's mind after she comes back to life.
Utterly Professional, Neverwhere. Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar, since the beginning. Creepy and masterfully done, this just gave me the chills.
Why Sex Ed Should Stay in Schools, Sesame Street, Ernie/Bert. Even if it wasn't so damn funny, I'd be reccing this out of the sheer shock value of SESAME STREET PORN, OMG. So wrong, so funny.
Okay, so this is cheating because it's from Yuletide 2006, but I really liked it and hadn't realized this little detail, so:
Dmitri in the Old Palace, Anastacia. The child Dmitri after the fall of the Romanovs, trying to survive. Poignant and beautiful.
ETA:OH GOD, MY CD/DVD DRIVE ISN'T WORKING. AAAAAH. I'M FREAKING OUT. WHAT DO I DOOOOO?
