Me: I wonder why they're still making Lassie movies. It's so damned passe.
Mom: And the dog must have been dead for a bazillion years, anyway.
Me:... I'd totally go see zombie!Lassie, though.
And this probably says far too much about me. Um.
I haven't really been talking about movies as of lately (except for Cloverfield, and we al know how that went down). In the past three weeks, I saw both El Orfanato and American Gangster, and both were pretty amazing. The former was incredibly creepy, and I jumped a lot and the prepubescent girls sitting in front of me screamed their little lungs out. It was nice to see well-written horror, really, and Spanish cinema has been coming out with a lot of those (The Others is totally a Spanish production in my eyes). American Gangster was just as smart and well done and well shot and damn, but well acted. Both Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe were just fantastic and completely believable.
And today I saw Sweeney Todd. And guys, but I'm torn. Because the acting and the photography and costumes and tone were all fantastic, but. I'm not a fan of musicals. Like, at all, and this was definitely too much singing in here. It just. Didn't fit the story at all. And yes, I know it comes from Broadway, whatever. As much as I love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, they're just not singers. But oh well, it was okay. Johanna and her creepy boyfriend bored the fuck out of me, though. BUT. Mrs. Lovett completely stole the film for me and she was the best part of it, haha XD ♥
About the end of the strike: YAY. Especially for SPN and Gossip Girl. BUT. NO MORE PUSHING DAISIES??? WHYYYYY. I miss it so damn much. ;___; (and no more Jericho, too... Damnit.)

But I agree, Johnny just wasn't as impressive or as memorable as he usually is. Oh well. (and for some reason I kept remembering all through the movie how he had worn his Captain Jack costume to go read to children in the hospital his daughter was in and I kept going AWWWW while he was slashing throats, lol XD)

But, but--Johnny Depp sounds like David Bowie!

Nah, nothing to extreme, but it does bug me.

Wait, what do you mean no more Pushing Daisies? They are brining it back next Season, right?

Oh, they are, but there won't be any new episodes until fall. ;____; I WANT SOME NED AND I WANT HIM NOW.

¡Oooooh!
