Me: I wonder why they're still making Lassie movies. It's so damned passe.
Mom: And the dog must have been dead for a bazillion years, anyway.
Me:... I'd totally go see zombie!Lassie, though.

And this probably says far too much about me. Um.

I haven't really been talking about movies as of lately (except for Cloverfield, and we al know how that went down). In the past three weeks, I saw both El Orfanato and American Gangster, and both were pretty amazing. The former was incredibly creepy, and I jumped a lot and the prepubescent girls sitting in front of me screamed their little lungs out. It was nice to see well-written horror, really, and Spanish cinema has been coming out with a lot of those (The Others is totally a Spanish production in my eyes). American Gangster was just as smart and well done and well shot and damn, but well acted. Both Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe were just fantastic and completely believable.

And today I saw Sweeney Todd. And guys, but I'm torn. Because the acting and the photography and costumes and tone were all fantastic, but. I'm not a fan of musicals. Like, at all, and this was definitely too much singing in here. It just. Didn't fit the story at all. And yes, I know it comes from Broadway, whatever. As much as I love Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, they're just not singers. But oh well, it was okay. Johanna and her creepy boyfriend bored the fuck out of me, though. BUT. Mrs. Lovett completely stole the film for me and she was the best part of it, haha XD ♥

About the end of the strike: YAY. Especially for SPN and Gossip Girl. BUT. NO MORE PUSHING DAISIES??? WHYYYYY. I miss it so damn much. ;___; (and no more Jericho, too... Damnit.)

The only things I loved about Sweeney Todd were a)the costumes/sets and b)HELENA BONHAM CARTER! Some of the songs were really good, most of them just went on too long and were boring. Johnny was alright I guess, but he didn't shine like in most of his movies. Johanna and that other guy just pissed me off. Like, why were they even in the movie? They had no point.

ZOMG THE COSTUMES. SO AWESOME. Helena was woooonderful. Best part of the movie, hands down, even if her singing is kinda... well, let's just say it's not her forte XD

But I agree, Johnny just wasn't as impressive or as memorable as he usually is. Oh well. (and for some reason I kept remembering all through the movie how he had worn his Captain Jack costume to go read to children in the hospital his daughter was in and I kept going AWWWW while he was slashing throats, lol XD)

You, you don't like songs? D:

But, but--Johnny Depp sounds like David Bowie!

Oh man, I loved El Orfanato, that is how I love my scary movies. I despise those movies were limbs are torn and there is blood everywhere, give me suspense and creepy children, haha. I actually didn't love Sweeney Todd either, I didn't mind the singing (I love musicals) but I just didn't think it was that extraordinary, but I must admit I loved Helena. I thought Johnny's performance was fine but not worthy to be nominated for so many awards.

Wait, what do you mean no more Pushing Daisies? They are brining it back next Season, right?

That bit near the end when they play that knoching the wall game... man, I was TERRIFIED. I'll have suspense over gore anyday was well. Yeah, Helena was the best thing about it for me too - Johnny just didn't as much as he usually does.

Oh, they are, but there won't be any new episodes until fall. ;____; I WANT SOME NED AND I WANT HIM NOW.

You know what's so weird? I know I've seen that knocking game in another scary movie, I just can't think of which one it was. Which is probably why I wanted that part to be terrifying but it wasn't as much as it could have been. But I just can't put my finger on what other movie they could have used that game in, I don't usually watch scary movies on a regular basis so which movie was it? Or maybe I just had a nightmare about that game when I was a child and thought it was in a movie, I don't know I'm going to google it just to make sure I'm not going crazy.

yayz!! ¡¡Más Supernatural!! ;___; por Pushing Daisies.

¡Oooooh!

Peeeero bueno.
