I've spent the entire weekend crying thanks to cinema. I don't complain, though.

All of that waiting finally ended and Juno was released on theaters on Friday. yay! I really liked it. It was cute and funny and well done, and had some fantastic music. I found it to be more like Garden State than Little Miss Sunshine, if you're going to compare indie movies that have nothing to do with each other. Buuuut, whatever. Maybe I was too PMStic, but I seriously bawled my eyes out at the end. Um. But really, Ellen Page for Best Actress? Come on. I love the gal, but if anything she deserved the nomination for Hard Candy (she's fucking scary in that one), not for this one.

And then I saw Atonement again, and my, but it looked so incredibly gorgeous in the big screen. *happy sigh* I didn't cry nearly as much as I did the first time I saw it, but it's still one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen, visually, and I could hear people sniffling along the room. My dad loved it, too, especially the ending, which I guess makes him a heartless bastard. Or something. It's really good in the second viewing too - so many details just stand up, this time around.

And then I just finished watching The Fountain, and I don't think I'll ever watch that movie and not cry like a baby. Oh, my heart. It aches, and yet this movie gives me a fascinating feeling of peace. And now I have to do a short essay and why it's good, technically speaking, for a school assignment. Best assignment ever, I guess XD

The Fountain is about three parallel stories starring the same characters in different times: conquistador-era Spain and South America, present-day United States, and a future in space. Basically, Hugh Jackman's character is trying to save Rachel Weisz's character from dying.
The cinematography was fantastic, and the special effects weren't CGI but done through this cool plant photography method. The story itself is very sweet and sad, although some people (not me) found parts of the movie laughable.
I saw it in a sneak preview, and there was a talk with the director (Darren Aronofsky, who made Pi and Requiem for a Dream). It was cool.

zomg, you actually met Darren Aronofsky, I'm so envious. o_O

But yeah, it's such a wonderfully beautiful movie - one of my top 5, no doubts. ♥

Both of the times I saw it on cinema most people were just confused out of their minds, lol, although my mom did cry with me.

I thought The Fountain was stunning, visually, very emotional (and not in a cheap manipulative way, thank god) and very well acted. hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz make SUCH a pretty couple. She looks gorgeous in her scenes as the Queen. *__*

Exactly! It's such a moving love story, and yet it's so removed from Hollywood cliches.

She does, my. And I love that change, how royal and strong she looks as the queen, and how sweet and warm she is as Izzy. I'm so surprised Hugh Jackman didn't get any recognition for this one - the scene just after Izzy's funeral breake me every. single. time.

I honestly can't imagine how it would've been with Brat Pitt and Cate Blanchett. o_O

Rubbish, I'd imagine. XD I love Cate, she's an amazing actress, but I can't imagine Brad in that role and I don't think they have the right chemistry for the roles.

I loved Juno, but I totally agree -- I don't think Ellen Page stood out enough for a nomination. She was wonderful in the movie and everything, but I just don't see her on the same level as the other nominees.

YYYY.

The 4 region dvd cover SUCKS, though. ;__; But it features Rachel interviewing Hugh Jackman and them being generably adorable. ♥
