Last night I braided all of my hair and slept on them so I would have ~curly~ hair.

KIDS. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

I woke up this morning and pulled out the elastic bands all excited and I KINDA SCARED MYSELF, OKAY? Omg. the awfullness. ;____; I look like a particularly badly groomed LION. That ran into a WAFFLE IRON.

I need to cut my hair ASAP and find a better way to get curly hair. o_O

Haha, aww. :') I've always wondered if that worked, I guess not.

Hahaha no. It doesn't. ;____; I'll try some other methods, seeing that I'm on holiday and I don't have to worry about going to school all LION-LIKE. I guess I'll submit y'all to my experiments results, lol.

It actually works! Really. It has for me in the past. You only get lion hair if the braids are really, really small – it should get properly wavy/curly if you divide your hair in maybe five or six medium-sized braids.

But it only really works for wavy curly, not for curly as in ringlet curly.

But that's what I did! Only five-six braids. I think it's mainly my hair's fault, actually - I have MASSIVE amounts of hair, and it's very heavy and frizzy, so it just like, went double sized. o_O

One of my friends gets pretty good results from french braiding. You could give that a try. Personally, I am all about the curling irons. :D

I can't french braid. ;___; (Yes. I do know how pathetic that sounds.)

Mmm, I've tried curling irons before, but my mom's is sort of falling into pieces (like, literally, it's held together with scotch tape), so I'm guessing that's the reason I haven't gotten exactly good results out of it...

I'm always trying to get wavy hair (mine is naturally wavy, but not much and looks messy), but I'd never thought of braiding it. Seeing the results, I think I won't.

My hair is a sort of weird combination between wavy and straight. Only with lots and lots of volume. Ugh. I stumbled into this page yesterday (http://www.wikihow.com/Curl-Hair), so I'll try some other methods.

I did this a few times, long ago when I had long hair. Most simple tip is to not wash you hair before curling. It helps the curl to keep it's form and not get frizzy.

Mmm, does it take a long time? Because I have a LOT of hair (I can take up to an hour ironing it...), so... But yeah, I saw that page yesterday, and am planning to try most of them during the holidays, see how it pans out.

Grasp the end of the strand with the center of the rag folded over it. Curl the strand around the rag to the underneath. The tricky part is to get the ends smooth. It may also take some practice to get the hair rolled up so that it won’t come out.

ESTE PASO. Porfis explicamelo con tus propias palabras y en español por que como que no le capto. seleccionas el mechon, y luego el pedacito de tela lo pones hasta el final del mechon? Y nada más empiezas a enrollar?

Lol! I used to do that when I was little, to get the 80s "crimpy" look. I thought it was so cool. :P

I'd never tried it before, so I was kinda excited how it would look. So I was even more disappointed. ;___;

Aw, do you have photos? Because that must've been awfully cute. :3 Despite being a child of the 80s myself, I can hardly remember them, although I do have photos of that awful early 90s style, lol.

I do have photos! I'll have them and scan them one of these day:)

LOL, oh wow. Braiding my hair just in pigtails works for me for wavy hair. Good luck with the experimenting!

I should've taken a picture. But I'd just woken up and it was NOT pretty. Huh.

LOL! I tried it once, when I had longer hair, and I ended up looking like Hermione. XD

OMG I used to do that when I was in grade school! But for realz. The trick is, don't touch it once unbraided. And then you get those little straight ends that ruin the whole illusion.

Yeah, I'd stick with a small curler.

I so so want to get a proper curler - my mom's is falling apart, literally; it's held together with tape, but my priority is a decent straightener. Mine is no good, boo.

hey, that's what my hair looks like every day...

lol, really? Mine's usually just in a no man's land - not straight and not curly, but rather FLUFFY. And FRIZZY. Boo. ;___;

Haha, I do that occasionally and it usually works fine, but I've definitely had some horrific results sometimes. :)
