I started re-reading Stephen King and Peter Straub's The Talisman, which I'd only read once but loved thoroughly. I really want to read it in English some day, the translation is old and so incredibly Castillian, but I've never been able to find it in the US, woe.

What I would really like to read from Stephen King is the Dark Tower series, but woe again, for some BIZARRE reason people in here decided it would be "logical" to translate the 5th book first. And then the sixth one. And seventh. But no word on the first four. *headdesk* And all I can get in here in English are classics so.

And since this seems to be the Woe About Books post, another author I never seem to get my hands on is Chuck Palahniuk. I only own Lullaby of his work (which was twisty and quite the mind-fuck and just excellent), and I have the rest of his books in my hard drive but... it's not the same. I want to hold it and take it with me everywhere. ;___;

In today's bizarre thing, I heard a mash-up or SOMETHING with one of Coldplay's songs with CUMBIA. It was... really, really weird. o_O Weird day to put on the radio for the first time in like, a year (trufax! I abandoned radio when I got the itrip, haha).

Chuck Palahniuk. Oh, my heart. The author of my beloved Fight Club ♥ I don't actually own any of his books because, even though I kind find them over here, I'm crap & never get round to buying them -.-

But I agree with you on the actual holding books thing. I find it so hard to read a book from a computer screen & really get into it [same doesn't apply to fanfic & I don't understand why that is] which makes me sad =[

I still haven't read Fight Club! Like I said - they're there, but I can only seem to read trashy books in the computer (aka Twilight, etc) for some reason. (probably because if it's not easy and entertaining enough to read in a single day or two, I'll just forget about it and never finish it. That's what happened to Atonement, for example...

And yeah, it's so weird! I can spend hours reading fic, no problem, but actual books I don't like it that much.

I have admit, I adore Twilight. If only for it's complete BADNESS. It's shiny [kind of like S1 Torchwood but maybe even more rubishy]. But the thing is, it had the potential to be so good. Proven by some of the fanfic I've read. 'Coz I have to admit to having HUGE love for most of the characters in that book [except Bella because any girl that defines herself THAT much by her partner is just.. no]

& you heard about Fight Club: The Musical. I predict it will be MADE OF WIN.

I like the idea of Twilight, like you said - it had promise but it just failed to deliver. Lol, I mostly love Jacob and like the werewolves so so but I'm annoyed big time by most of the vampires (especially Alice, ugggh, and Edward by default, especially after Eclipse). WEIRDLY ENOUGH, though, I like Rosalie a lot. Maybe because she's sort of bitchy, lol. Bella I just want to chuck in a hole and never let her out again. ew. But yeah, some of the fanfic is just so so good and it makes me sad that the actual books can't be like that. ;__;

OMG A MUSICAL?? That sounds. So much like crack. o_O (But I'd still see it, yes.)

Bella I just want to chuck in a hole and never let her out again.

I feel this way about most female charcters & I feel bad about that, because I don't want to be sexist & all anti-female [read: Gwen Cooper and Buffy Summers]. But then some amazingly so-awesome-that-it-HURTS female character will come along [read: MARTHA JONES & Toshiko Sato] & will restore my whole faith in on-screen females. Over the years there have been a few that I've loved ridiculous amounts but that list pales in comparison to the male one & this makes me sad.

[sorry for the unrequested ramble there]

BUT YES! I would so see that musical. & Brad Pitt has expressed interest in being a part of it & OH MY HEART.

I actually tend to like female and male characters mostly equally, although it depends on the fandom. Do you watch Moonlight? I'm the biggest Beth fan you'll ever find and the rest of the fandom only likes Josef. ;___; I don't know, I think there's a LOT of well-written females on tv, they just need more attention. *shrug*

;adkjflsjf Brad Pitt in fight club musical. as;ldfj. SINGING.

I think I'm possibly just in the wrong fandoms. But then, some women characters, I'll love them & then fandom will destroy them. Rose Tyler being probably the main example. I love Rose on screen but I have a severe allergic reaction to fandom!Rose.

OH GOD I KNOW! I already had Johnny Deep SINING IN A MUSICAL. But Brad Pitt might ACTUALLY make me DIE. My heart will not be able to stand that. God, I'm such a fangirl -is ashamed-

Lullaby is all I've read of him, but it was so incredibly awesome.

Oh man. That sounds like the best plan ever. All books, all the time!

I read 'The Talisman' a long time ago and I absolutely adore it. I love the Dark Tower series, too, have them all but haven't finished reading them yet. Read up to Book 4. I really must make time to get back to my books!

You read the translations and not the English version?

I don't want to read the translations, but that's the only thing I can get here, and usually when I go to the US I always end up penniless from buying a lot of random books in different places, so I never get to buy anything from him. ;___;

I remember listening to the Rhythms del Mundo CD, and there was a salsa version of a Coldplay song, but not cumbia.
