My reactions, written right after I stopped watching last night. Capslock of SURPRISE ahead.
Doctor Who 4x12 – The Stolen Planet:OH MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK. NO WAY. NO FUCKING WAY. O_O Regeneration? TRULY? Buuuut, the Beeb cannot keep a secret to save its life, we would’ve known since, you know, FOREVER, right? And at the same time… NO WAY.
Other than that CLIFFHANGER OF DOOM, my thoughts angle on MEH. While the Doctor going OOOH, SHINY COMPANIONS, YOU’RE ALL SO SO AWESOME was made of pure win, Rose returning as Saint Rose instead of, well, Rose was somewhat annoying. Petty much, girl?
Weirdly enough, I had a little wave or affection for the Torchwood team. I KNOW, I KNOW. Sarah Jane too although I’ve never gotten around to see SJA, sooo that was confusing. Martha was lovely. All three seconds that she was onscreen. Um.
CONFESSION TIME. I don’t like Daleks. Well, I like them just fine as heritage and funny little pepper pots and stuff. It’s as actual villains that I hate them. They’re annoying, sort of useless and overrated. Part of what made me don’t hate the S3 finale that much was that well, AT LEAST, it didn’t feature Daleks. And now the little buggers are back. Bah. Let me tell you, if there’s one thing I’m looking forward for Moffat’s era, is that there probably won’t be any sodding Daleks on the finale.
So that was trite and the RUN OF LUUUURVE was cringe-worthy. Er.
The Doctor and Donna were wonderful in the Shadow Proclamation, though, that with him jumping around places and marveling at 3D planets and Donna saying she’s just as important as a Time Lord and everything, so there’s that.
I got a call from the people in the student exchange department today, and apparently my exchange has gone to shit. The stupid school was only available for masters, and why the fuck wasn’t I informed of this after I spent so much time working on it? ARGH. I still have a chance of going overseas if I apply to Leeds, though, which I guess is better than nothing, although I’ll have to chase a teacher to sign a bunch of stuff again. SIGH.
Book question! I have this scene in my head and I just can’t remember from which book it is. It’s driving me nuts. It goes like this: It’s about the parents of the female lead, how they met – they were both of Asian backgrounds (Chinese dad and Indian mom? Viceversa?) and were going to, uh, MIT(?) together. They were in the chess club and played every day, and the guy always won, because the gal was afraid he’d loose interest in her if she won. Instead, the day she finally won, he asked her to marry him. It’s just so frustrating, because the image is so clear in my head that I must own the book, and have read it at least twice. But really, what author do I follow that writes about Asian folk? Amy Tan? But after the wreck that Saving Fish From Drowning was, I haven’t felt like re-reading any of her books. UMMM. DUNNO.
Help, oh mightly flist, for it is keeping me up at night. o_O

I RECOGNISE THAT CHESS STORY! OMG, I've either read the book or a review of it very recently and I just can't think of what it is. Bah. Now it's driving me crazy.

aaaah, think think think! It's seriously been bothering me since saturday. o_O

I don't watch SJA either so I was majorly confused, but I like Sarah Jane, she's so cute. Oh, Torchwood. Although, why were they afraid for Jack? He can't die, so he'll be fine. I don't know why he didn't leave them with some weapon that can blast the Daleks, like the one he took with him. But I guess he wouldn't have been able to shot that one Dalek, oh well.
For the book question: Maxine Kingston? That scene does not sound familiar to me but maybe she's the first one that came to mind.

I've wanted to watch SJA for a long time, but never get around to it. Woe. That was quite asshole-y of Jack, wasn't it? Go off to find the Doctor and leaving Ianto and Gwen to fend off for themselves with only regular guns. DUDE.
Mmm, don't think so, I don't recognize that author...

I was hoping Jack would leave them with some protection, or at least they had something with them to protect themselves. When they pulled out the guns I thought, oh no!
By the way, I never saw TW finale, so I had no idea what happened to Tosh and Owen, I was asking where they were and then I looked it up and finale understood. I am slow.

<---- this is my "omg wtf daleks" face
In conclusion:
Dear Mr. Moffat,
No apocalypse a week for S5. And please, for the love of god, no more daleks.
Yours Sincerely,
a concerned (and v. bored) fan

Marthaaaaaaaaaa <3333333333
Run Of Love made me cringe so hard but that could probably be down to my Rose issues and deep-seated aversion to Ten/Rose. Actually, I can of despised the way Rose was written in this episode and the writers need to stop trying to make me hate on her because I don't want to ;___;
And for the record? I love Daleks but maybe that's because I'm English and we get it ingrained into our minds from being tiny or something. Kind of like the overwhelming affection I feel for the TARDIS.

And I was a sucker for the Sprint of Love. Even though I did laugh a bit when the Dalek shot him.
