We didn't put up ANY Christmas decorations this year (or last...) because my mom went sort of anti-christmas all of the sudden and threw away our tree, even the tiny teeny one we used to have when I was little (it looks downright depressing, yo - I have the feeling my first Christmas on my own it shall look like the holidays threw up on me and so many lights shall start a fire), so I was surprised when I woke up all groggy and I saw a Christmas stocking hanging from my brother's door handle, lol. So I went back and indeed, there was one on my door as well! XDD
Truth is, I never get awfully excited about Christmas presents when I know it'll be money, but hey, now I'll get to buy MOAR books and winter clothing in the US next week, in preparation for my freezing my ass off next semester in the UK, haha. But still! It was surprising and lovely and my mom laughed a lot at my bemused, sleepy expression, haha. OH, PARENTS. ♥
Now I'm reading
yuletide fics all cozy. I'm sad I won't manage to really put up reclists this year, as I leave tomorrow at like, dawn or some other unholy time. So far I've read a fantastic Calvin and Hobbes story and I'm reading a Pushing Daisies fic that is made of shiny and could practically be an episode. :3 OH, YULETIDE. WHY SO AWESOME.
My grandma gave my dad the most horrible clock in the history of horrible clocks yesterday. I have no idea what posessed her to give out such a fantastically awful gift, but it was a good laugh. I wanted to paint it white, in attempt to make it less hideous and more pseudo-kitsch cool, but all I had was PURPLE spray. So now we are in the posession of horrible, awful, hideously PURPLE clock. YAY! :D
