Being a famous director doesn't mean you're allowed to rape a 13-year-old girl. It really, really fucking doesn't. So what if it was 30 years ago, he doesn't deserve any special privledges, and honestly, 'how he's suffered already? not being able to go home to get his oscar?' cry me a fucking river.

yup. this whole thing disgusts me--not just the charges but how many people are being all, he's an artist! LIKE THAT MAKES IT OKAY. AARGH world. stop being stupid.

yeah, somehow I think if he were a no-name accountant or janitor or something he wouldn't have gotten a pass on this. But because he was a Big Name director (who's wife was, admittedly, horribly murdered by the Manson Family) he gets a free pass.

I feel sorry for him about his wife, but plenty of other people out there have had family members horrible murdered and DIDN'T go out and drug and rape 13 year olds.

I cant' believe I read every last page of the ONTD post made on the 27th. AND SO WHAT IF HE HAD A TOUGH LIFE?! THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHIT! THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT OKAY TO BREAK THE LAW! OH POOR YOU, LIFE SHIT ON YOU, WE WON'T PUT YOU IN PRISON FOR DRUGGING AND RAPING A GIRL. YOU'VE SUFFERED ENOUGH!!

I can't believe I also read that fucking article about how his arrest OMG HURT THE ART WORLD and damaged the fucking festival he was at. WELL MAYBE HE SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE RAPING SOMEONE. I seriously want to smack the shit out of anyone defending him.

I agree with you 100%

Additionally, if he hadn't skipped out he would have served his term and been out of prison years ago. Instead, both he and the victim have to go through all this shit right now. Instead I'm betting he's going to die in prison, which I can't say I feel sorry about.

And all the people who believe that it was "just" statutory rape... she was 13, and he drugged her. That's child molestation IMO.

What I don't quite get is how the French government is sympathizing with him. It's quite clear to me - he's guilty, and he should pay for it regardless of how good his movies might be.
