The boy has been bitching about ~omg how hot it is~ and how he's ~omg so sweaty~ and how apparently it's hell on earth and he's melting slowly. BULLSHIT. I know his pasty Brit ass is not used to warm weather, but it's 25C in Leeds and 25 IS NOT HOT. It's NICE. And like, February at noon weather for me. And now apparently everyone in Britain is going around with shorts and shirtless, LOL. Granted, we people over here have been overusing short shorts and miniskirts for a while, but we, unlike some oversensitive dramatic boyfriends, are roasting. And we manage to keep our shirts on, ha!*

(Note: if it's above 37C where you live, by all means you're welcome to laugh at me. The same if it's 20 below in the winter and I'm bitching about being cold at 15C. Fair's fair.)

(Note 2: no, but seriously, people here for the most part brave the summer with our same clothes as the rest of the year, jeans and t-shirts. We don't walk around in bikini tips, or frolick around half-naked in the parks. A bit of English idiosyncrasy that weirded me out quite a bit while I was there. That and fake-tans.)

it's 30C here and I managed to dress properly in a shirt, skirt and flip flops, JEEZE.

Oh climate.

I hate cold, for the record. Even if I lived in it for so long I get all babylike about it. I'll never complain about the heat though - I moved to Miami for the hot.

But you're not going around in bikini tops! People did that in EXAMS last year in England! Crazycakes.

Ha, I'm the opposite - I HATE the heat, hate hate hate. It's just that it's harder to live with it, in cold weather you can just put on extra jumpers, in the heat there's a moment when you just have to suffer through it.

BUT IT'S SO HOT THO. Haha, no, I'm just awful at dealing with anything above 20C. I have red hair, we ginger and English people aren't built to deal with heat. (It's kind of hilarious though, compared to the insane winter we had a few months ago. Climate is weird.)

lol, I guess, but 25 is such nice, sprin-y weather to lay around under trees in the park, so it's annoying for my bf to be bitching about it when he can see me having the fan on, the window open all the way and me fanning me anyway. Question! Why do they say gingers tan easier? Wouldn't that be true of all fair-skinned people?

yeah, I was expecting a milder summer because of the freakishly cold winter to our normal standards, but nope, summer decided to come anyway, the bastard. XD

Ahahahaha, but it's SO HOT. We are used to CLOUDS AND RAIN, YOU KNOW WE ARE! It is very true what you're saying though, I have seen a million people today under-dressed like they are on an exotic beach somewhere, far away from civilisation, and they were like, just walking down a street, in the dog park, etc.

We brits just don't know what to do with ourselves in these kind of extreme 20 degree temperatures! It's pretty pathetic. :)

Lol, TRUE. If it were hotter more often, people wouldn't go around half naked, I suppose. I mean, it looks FUNNY and sort of quirky in that LOL, BRITS way, but it is weird XD But I guess it was a really nice weekend to hang out in parks and do sod all! I'd like that. :)

My particular bit of Leeds felt a whole lot warmer than 25C today; maybe it's because my living room has very large west-facing windows.

Unfortunately, my ideal temperature's around 10C to 15C (50F to 60F), so I'm in for a bit of discomfort.
Still it's not too bad.

The only compensation I can see for the hotter times of the year is the chance to look at lots of cute guys walking round shirtless. I should reassure everyone that I'll be keeping my own particular atributes well ccovered, so you're safe to go out.

Oh, I think that's true for more places indoor, houses over there are built to be warm, after all. My house is cold in winter (in a country where pretty much no one has heating) and warm in the summer. It's a bit horrible.

My ideal temperature is probably around 20C, as I'm in no way used to the cold and I was half frozen for most of the time I lived in Leeds. As lon as you can wear a light jacket, but are not too cold or too warm, that's perfect.

Well, there IS that, lol. And people playing volleyball and stuff in the middle of uni, just to entice people!

And btw, hi! How did you run into this, if I might ask?

Hi.

I found your journal a few months ago on my friends of friends page - I think you mentioned Leeds and Doctor Who in the same sentence and that caught my eye. I also noticed we have a few interests in common. I hope that's OK.

I've been living in Leeds for about six years now and haven't really interacted much with the uni. And now you tell me there's shirtless volleyball there? I've been hanging out in the wrong places!

Incidentally, I'm sorry for taking so long to reply. I can be a victim of my own shyness - I just rattled off my first message fairly quickly, but I allowed myself too much time to think with this one, and defaulted into mild panic mode.

Sure, that's all right. :) The more the merrier!

Yep, sometimes! Or at least, there was during exams last year, lol. It was pretty obvious teasing for the people standing in line for a concert in the refectory, though. T'was funny.

I was only in Leeds for a student exchange last year, but I really really liked it, and here's hoping I'll go back for my masters next year.

Right now, it's 26° C here, which is AWESOME. Great temperature. Of course, I'm not in England, but still a great temperature! We only get 37° C when it's July or August. And the HUMIDITY! OH, IT'S AWFUL. We've had a couple days at 91/92 in the shade lately (About 33, according to a C/F calculator I've got pulled up?), but I don't generally stay outside longer than I have to during those days.

I think the record here that I know of was 108F/42C.

I remember it was about 95 the first time we went to London. (That's typical summer weather here, so I'm used to it. I don't like it, but I'm used to it) Everyone was stripped down, and my parents and I were walking around in pants and tshirts. I think everyone thought we were crazy. We were like, "Um, keep yourself hydrated, stay close to the air conditioner, and you should be okay?"

It IS a great temerature, it's nice and cozy. I guess it's so rare that it gets like that in England that everyone freaks out. Technically we SHOULD be used to 35-37 every year in may, but it never ceizes to be horrible, lol. Oh and agreed, it's much worse when there's humidity involved!

Lol, yeah, those pasty English, they can't handle any heat XD They're good at handling cold, though, I used to go in coat and scarf until may, and girls tend to walk around in miniskirts in the middle of January at 2C! Crazycakes! At least like someone else said here, it's nice to see cute boys walking around shirtless!
