As I'm really running low on new books to read (I think all I have left is Haruki Murakami's Sputnik, Sweetheart) I've been doing a lot of re-readings. I'm now reading Suzanne Frank's Reflections in the Nile, which is a compelling read even if it has all of the cliches of cheap romances mixed with the actually interesting sci-fi time-travelling twist, and with a lot of pretty hot but frankly vanilla sex. The 4th book is the only one that I haven't read of the series, but I don't think it's that much of a loss considering the 3rd one got a bit too heavy on the religiousness.

The books are pretty hard to put down, but they bother at the same time. The main character is the epitome of all things good, pure and virginal because she finds the modern way of living sex a bit revolting. Also, the first book has evil!lesbians, and the second one evil!gays. Um, what. Granted, they're all sort of interesting characters, but geez, that's taking it too far.

Uuuugh, I need new books.

I just finished a Michael Chabon one, though! Gentlemen of the Road, and while it's not as good as some of his other novels, and it takes a while to get into it, it was so very lovely by the end. Have also re-read Sophie's World, after, what, 7 years since I last read it? It's still great, but it's different to read it as an adult when you've already taken the philosophy course before. I didn't remember the bit about space, though, and that I found absolutely adorable and gorgeous. Aw.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Haruki Murakami. Sputnik Sweetheart is, like, one of my favourite books ever--I like to maintain that the main character guy and girl ended up together in the end, in some kind of alternate reality because I really just wanted them to. :D

Oh, well, I didn't know it had a sad ending...

I've only read Norwegian Wood of him, and it was absolutely lovely. :D
