Now that the video for Alejandro came out, and that it's Gaga's nth no.1 song and stuff, does that mean that English-speaking people will finally be able to pronounce my name correctly? YAY.

Seriously, I've gotten the weirdest stuff. o_o I introduced myself as Alex while in England to make things easier, and it wasn't that much of a stretch considering that I'm Ale for friends and Alex for family. Ah well.

Of course not, that would mean we had to admit that there were languages other than American English as it's pronounced in our little corner of the country. Silly!

My friend here in Wichita named her first daughter Alejandra, and she is as white as white can be--her husband is the one whose family is from Colombia (if I remember correctly). Anyways, they just call her Allie because most everyone cannot figure out her name. Poor kid. LOL.

Lol, that's random. Yeah, I find that a bit strange, I mean, it's just a letter awy from Alexandra, yet it meets a lot of wtf faces. Ah well. It's such a common name in my generation, as well, it was 3 Alejandros and 3 Alejandras in my freshman high school class, lol.

I've never heard Alejandra mispronounced, although maybe recent immigrants from other countries may have trouble with it. But maybe that's because I live in California. For many people here, "Alejandra" is pretty easy compared to some town names.

Yeah, I think that's it, if it's in an area with lots of latinos it might seem more normal. I don't get why it can be so hard to say for some other people though. I always say, Like Alexandra but with a J! And they go WHUT. SIGH. It's such a common name in my generation, as well, it was 3 Alejandros and 3 Alejandras in my freshman high school class, lol.
