I finally got to see Brokeback Mountain. Rewinding: Rodrigo Prieto (director of photography) was talking in a popular (*snort*) talkshow the other day (well of course they're gonna milk the fact that he's Mexican. Of course.) saying 'Hey, don't go thinking it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's a simple movie, and don't expect utter brilliancy. That must've affected my parents a lot, since while they liked it, they thought it long and sometimes boring. And yes, they didn't go with me. Went all by myself and some silly girls were giggling at every kiss next to me. Grr... Anyway, I even woke up early so I could do a bit of homework before I went.

Okay, so what I thought? I found it beautiful. As a movie, Memoirs of a Geisha is better, but as a story, and as far as characters go, this one's better. I never once found it slow or tedious, but quite the contrary, and the photograpy is glorious. The development of every character is really well paced, and the emotions are so easily portrayed. That kiss after the four year absence feels so thruthful and wonderful, and the acting was really, really good.

The ending... God, I actually cried, and I've been just out of it for the entire day, just reliving it in my head as to absorbe it all, and wah, I just loved it loads. BUT, I'm okay that it didn't win. As wonderful as it was, it's not the best movie I've seen by far.

Best Featured Movie: Crash. Now that was a surprise. I really loved that movie, though, so
all well's with me. :)

The simultaneous translation bugs me a bit ('cause the people go and have entire conversations over someone's speach...), but I'd have to hear it at top volume to get everything, and most of the jokes, I don't get at all. Oh well.

I was so proud that Crash won Best Picture, because, well, of all the nominees, it was the only one I'd seen! Hahaha.

*sigh*... still need to see BBM... my mother was very, very confused last time I was home, because the Olympics announcers kept calling the men's figure-skating the "Brokeback Event" and she had no idea what they were talking about ;)

Haha, I haven't seen Capote or Goodnight and Goodluck yet, but I think Munich deserved it more. Oh well...

Did you explain it to her? like 'uh, mom, there's this story about very gay, very hot cowboys...' XD You totally have to see it. It's beautiful, but it's not the greatest movie ever.

Brokeback I loved because it was such a simple story, so well told. The photography, the score, the acting...just all blew me away. And the ending...I was sobbing. I knew what happened. I knew when it happened, and I was still sobbing. I took plenty of tissues in with me.

Crash winning best movie kinda surprised me as well, but I hadn't seen it, so I dunno if it was the best.

*sigh* I just wish that more awards had gone to Brokeback because that was definitely my favorite movie.

Yes, it's very cleanly done, and it feels almost minimalistic in an expanded way, if you know what I mean XD And the score fitted so well with the story! That was utterly amazing.

Crash was wonderful it made cry, and cry, and cry. BUT, I think Munich deserved it better. But I really have to go see Capote and Good night and Good Luck. And I dunno, I really, really loved Memoirs of a Geisha, and it didn't won anything that important. *shrug*

I also cried at the end, I was bawling, I must have looked like a psycho. I also thought this was a fantastic story, truly touching.

I hate it when people laugh at inappropriate moments during movies, luckily when I went to see BBM I was in a theater with people of the age of 50+, so no giggling.

I liked Crash, but I really wanted BBM to win. oh well.

Well, I only sniffed a bit, but I think the annoying giggling people (grrr...) stared at me a bit XD Haha, I bet the looks on the elderly people would've been totally worth it! :)))

You know I was suprised with the audience, they weren't at all shocked or anything. I have a feeling they knew what they were getting into. However, one time I saw "Monster" and there Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci have a little love scene, and this elderly couple in front of me freaked out.
