I honestly have no desire whatsoever to watch The Social Network. Even if people are talking about the great script or the great writer or whatever - it's still a movie about facebook. And I like facebook, I troll it quite often, but I don't really need movies about it, thanks.

I know it's not the same, but you just know there's a FARMVILLE: THE MOVIE: REVENGE OF THE TRACTORS coming up.

I had no desire to watch it either, didn't watch any of the trailers, mocked my sister for being interested, but I still went to see it at the cinema because I had a free ticket and DAMN, it was amazing. Don't see it as the story of facebook, it seemed more like a snapshot of our time and at the same time a sort of tragic tale about a lot of things but certainly not facebook as you know and use it.

Mmm, yeah I keep hearing about it, but I have the feeling it'll just be a bunch of white rich guys bitching about life and about their nerd status. Eh. Don't know.

That's... actually pretty much the movie summed up right there.

Ugh, definitely not watching it, then. D:

Eduardo isn't so bad, because he actually manages to have some sort of social life, but Mark and Sean? Yes. Completely. And then you have the three characters that are spoiled little rich brats and are mad that their money isn't buying them anything.

And there's a complete and utter lack of decent female human beings in that movie.

It's a decent flick, but I honestly don't think it's the end-all and be-all of movies this year.

Funny fact: Mark uses LJ in the very beginning of the movie. The people that have been on LJ since at least 2003 said, "LJ didn't look like that in 2003!" I've been on LJ since 2000, so I pretty much lol'd when I realized they were right.

I heard a lot about that in ONTD, actually - how they invented weird and co-dependent female characters but left out the smart and capable girls that were actually in their lives.

Ha, pre-Russian LJ! SIGH. So in the movie it just looked as it does today?

I second that emotion. The only nerds I give a shit about write porn or inspire it.

C'mon, don't you know that you are *required* to care about how a privileged white woman-hating asshole made a huge pile of money? It's the only story that matters in the entire history of the world and it will define the universe FOREVER!

...Yeah, I'm with you on the complete lack of desire to see that movie. There aren't even any alien invasions or zombies or exploding spaceships in it.

She's right. Our indifferent/hostile attitudes about tales of this sort threaten the very foundations of Western Civilization. Add to that our preference for stories with explosions, mansexing and the fantastic and it's no wonder Red China is getting all uppity lately!

But...but... FARMVILLE: THE MOVIE: REVENGE OF THE TRACTORS.....it might have explosions, or even sheep! We should all go see that one. ;-)

I know - we're so mean for wanting movies to be about gay zombie hunters that have lots of make outs in between beheading monsters. If only we could respect the serious history stories about facebook!

Clearly.

I know, I know, I should be ashamed at myself! if only I could give those bitter nerdy virgin types a bit more respect.

If there were zombie aliens in the movie and their spaceship exploded, I'd watch the shit out of that movie. ALSO GHOSTS.

Well, it's not really about Facebook anymore than Fight Club was about a bunch of guys beating the hell out of each other for fun. I mean, you can describe it like that, but it's not an accurate description. It's more about razor sharp dialog and solid performances by everyone even Justin Timberlake (INO WTH!?!). That combined with a Trent Raznor score and an Aaron Sorkin script had my expectations way up and I was not dissapointed.

And I keep hearing that, but I've never watched an episode of the West Wing (nor want to), so there's no interest for me in that front. And just - the plot sounds so dull, omg, the idea of spending a few hours watching young bitchy white nerds creating a website and then fighting over it - ugh, not for me.
