I love the Day of the Dead. It's a lovely, colorful, meaningful and magic celebration, and while I don't particularly believe the dead come back for the day, it's good to have a day to remember them, and to feel close to them. There's something nice about laying food out for them, and believing that the next day, when one eats it, they've sucked the flavor away. OR, it could sound morbid, but us Mexicans have always been fascinated by death.

So here's a quick drawing to celebrate it a bit, considering I haven't been to a cemetery today, or that I tried to buy cempazuchitl flowers and my mother dearest refused (thanks, mom.) Every year I say I'll put up another Death Shrine and every year I forget. ;____; I loved doing those when we had contests in school. SIGH.

AND NOW I MUST GO AND STUFF MYSELF WITH DEATH BREAD. OM NOM NOM.

personalmente encuentro la idea de que los muertos de rato en rato vienen a visitarnos un tanto reconfortante.

no soy mexicana, pero todos los años entre el 31 de octubre y el 3 de noviembre en mi casa siempre se pone un plato mas en la mesa...por si las moscas.

Si, es lindo pensar que no nos dejan del todo.

Me agrada la tradición, es buena idea. :) Este día me recuerda muchísimo a mi bisabuelita, y si hay alguien que quisiera volviera por un ratito, es ella.

Siempre nadie compro! Y yo que tenia un antojo... pero pues bueno, me vi bien fodonga y pude haber ido yo, jaja.
