On Saturday I got together with some friends, and the waiter refused to put on the birthday song for me and my fellow cumpleañero friend because "this is an Irish place, mate, it doesn't go with the theme, right." We spent the rest of the evening saying things to the effect of "Irish people don't celebrate birthdays, didn't you know? Those Irish. They also don't deserve cushions, it seems. Oh those Irish." It was okay, though, we ended up at a taco stand at half past one am, and didn't leave there until past three, haha.
Yesterday for my birthday the highlight of my day was seeing Deathly Hallows, which I really really liked, it was lovely cinematographically speaking and they captured very well the fear, isolation and claustrophobic-feeling journey of the trio. The acting was rather good, the magic looked, well, magic, and the tale of the three brothers was GORGEOUS. As opposed to everyone else, I actually really like the camping section of DH (the book), as it's so character driven and daunting for the kids that it almost felt like they JK was pandering to my angsty-loving soul. :D In all I loved it, and I really want to see it again, not to say want the next one NOW.
My mom has this weird ear infection that's giving her tons of horrible vertigo, so I've had to help around a lot, which usually would be fine, but I have a nasty, nasty cold, and I feel like curling up and sleeping for ages. So yeah, it hasn't been a nice day. Oh well.
