So I finally got to see The King's Speech! I liked it very much. It was lovely and moving. And Colin Firth totally deserves that oscar. It's been a very cinematic few days, as I also saw True Grit yesterday (we'd gone to see the King's Speech, but the newspaper had fucked up the cinema schedules, so we had to made do with what we can), and it was a good movie, well performed and told, but, ah, I'm not really fond of westerns.

I do have to say though, it annoys me that it's marketed as a tough western with an all-male cast, because man, but Mattie Ross is my hero - she drives the movie completely, and she's probably the best role model for girls in cinemas right now. So the marketing should be ALL ABOUT HER. YES.

And seeing that I'm talking movies already, I watched Black Swan a couple of weeks ago, and I really liked it - it was haunting and trippy and good-crazy. The dancing was awesome as well, and the cinematography, and there was pretty good acting in it.

And now I'll go watch more White Collar, I guess! I like this show, but I have the feeling it's better in a week-to-week basis, because it is very obvious that the show is held up by Matt Bomer's sheer hotness and charisma.

Ahaha, very much yes. Sometimes in the middle of episodes I just stop and think, "That made NO SENSE. Why do I watch this show again? ... Oh right. Yeah."

Haha, yeah, he sort of drives the show on charm alone! That's why I've been watching it so slowly - it's charming, but it doesn't leave me YEARNING for the next episode, like for example the vampire diaries had me do when I marathoned it. (btw, have you watched it? It's AWESOME).

But I keep on staring at his face and thinking he CAN'T be real. He's TOO HOT. lol.

No, I haven't! I'm tempted to, though! But I'M SO CONFUSED ABOUT THAT SHOW, ALE -- half the people I know roll their eyes when it's mentioned and say it's just trashy CW drama, the other half (all of who are really smart women who I really respect!) regularly go on for paragraphs about the plot and character development and how good the show is. So it must be good. But I do not understand how it can elicit contradictory responses?! :D

It's because it's marketed as a horrible teenage vampire show to rival twilight and whatnot, and for the first six or so episodes, it IS (and oh god, it was SO bad at the start, I kept on cringing and hoping for everyone to die and I was about to quit). But then it sort of CHANGES magically into a show that, if it's still not exactly highbrow, is interesting, layered, with good characters and the highest number of twists by episode that I've ever seen! The pace is soooo good, you wouldn't believe the many, many things that happen each episode. It sometimes goes back to its teenage campness just to show that it can, but it's so much better than that. Give it a try! :)

Hm, that sounds pretty damn awesome. :D I've been wanting a show with an actual plot lately -- the problem with all of these high-concept scifi shows is none of the writers know how to plot them, and they kind of just sit there with their wheels spinning all the time. *sigh* Do I even have to watch the first six episodes, or can I skip them?

Haha, well, sometimes the plot isn't THAT well thought out, but it's all about surprises and twists and cliffhangers ALL THE TIME, so they can be forgiven for it. And literally every single female in this show is awesome! :D

mmm, I guess you could read the synopsis in wikipedia, or sort of fastforward through them? a few things plot points are needed for the rest of the series, but you could still get the plot, I guess.

Mattie Ross is actually the narrator in the book.
