Sooo... how do you go about saving your journal into dreamwidth? I'm not moving, but just in case the Russian Government/hackers/grannys with viruses/whatever manage to put it down for good, I'd like to have a backup of all these years blogging.

Also, like [livejournal.com profile] nrrrdy_grrrl said, it feels a bit humbling to know that the Russian users mostly use LJ as a way to evade censorship in political debates. And we? We use it for porn. Heh.

ETA:Ok, going through the import at DW now! A question though, can you post from LJ to DW instead of the opposite? I just want to use DW as a backup for now, so I want people to comment here, not there. Also, it sounds a bit more tedious.

It's really ridiculously easy. When you first establish your Dreamwidth account, it asks you if you want to create mirror image copies of your entire LiveJournal account. You say, "Yes, thank you," and provide the necessary info like LJ username and password. It does the work for you.

Then every time you post from here on, you post in DW, check the box for cross-posting to LJ, and voila! I did it just to have a backup to my LJ account.

I can send you a DW invite code if you'd like.

Thing is, I already have an account! I just use it to comment on people that are based on DW, but I've had it for a while, so would it still be as easy to do a back up?

And then you can select what you want to import etc.

Ahaha, I hardly ever go to DW so I can never remember who I have there from my flist XD

Well it hasn't imported them yet, it just says they're on a queue, but everything else imported ok. That sounds really weird, maybe you can contact someone from tech support? Don't know...
