So, we were sent the old service directory of one of Puerto Vallarta's Holiday Inns that another agency had done for them. Not only was it really badly made, BUT, it had the following jewel in it. In the menu, and I'm assuming it was a typo but jesus, what a typo, it said: MEAT CUNTS.
I swear I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry.
So, I saw Skyfall over the weekend! I really, really loved it. Did it have its flaws? of course. It's a Bond movie, they're riddled with huge gaping flows. But it was such a strong, well told movie, it looked absolutely gorgeous (all those centered shots! the landscapes that went on forever! Daniel Craig in a tight suit and/or shirtless! what? Craig-as-Bond does things to me, I can't help it). M was absurdly amazing in it, I really loved Eve (spoiler for the win!) and Q was adorkable. And Javier Bardem was fantastic.
Of course I wish they hadn't killed M off, because my god, but she's amazing, but on the other hand she was the Bond girl of the film, so to say, so having her as the main focus of the film was a good choice. I do hope it was Judi Dench's choice and not a random whim of the writers though!
I almost can't believe that they honestly went with having Bond admitting to having done men before, but oh, what a glorious moment. I'm pretty sure that Silva's 'Mr. Bond!' at that moment could've represented fandom. And not a single gross reaction in my theater! Everyone just had a giggle and that was it. Well done, hometown you.
My family and I used to rent the old films and have mini marathons over the weekends when I was a kid, so I've always been really attached to the franchise (except for when it comes to Moonraker. Even my stupid 12-year-old self knew that was utter tripe). I really like the Craig movies. I really liked Pierce Brosnan's tenure as well, but the movies were getting to silly and overdone (oh god the invisible car), and Craig's films have felt a lot more viceral and threatening, in a way? It's still Bond, but I do love me a Bond that can crumple to the ground with physical and mental exhaution. I really just want to go see it again.
In other news, the boy is coming round in January! Yay. So partly because of that and partly just because, I went and got myself a frilly burgundy satin knickers and bra set. I'd never had posh underwear before! I've always been more of a beige bra and polar bear* or other random cutesy pattern underwear kind of gal. It was expensive so it better feel like heaven or something.
*I do indeed have polar bear underwear. And tiny penguin underwear. They're adorable.
