So I just finished the first Harry Dresden book, and I liked it, but it wasn't life changing or anything. Does it really get as amazing as people say at some point?

In other news, I've been horny as hell as of lately, which my brain is translating as 'sex-dreams-with-the-ex-yay' time. Thanks brain, and fuck you too. SIGH. I just really miss the boy.

Well, if you liked it, it's probably worth it to keep reading, because the first book is actually pretty terrible. :) The second isn't all that great either. The series only really gets its feet under it in the third. That's when things start getting complicated. And it doesn't start to get into the realm of ~amazing~ until a bit after that, around the 6th book or so. (I read the whole series out of order, based on which books I could find in bookstores at the time.)

Yeah, I thought the 1st book was all right, in a 'meh, don't have anything else to read right now', but overall I like the idea of them? Anyway, with you guys' suggestions I decided to skip book 2 and I just started reading book 3 :)

Btw, have you read the Rivers of London series? to be honest I started reading Harry Dresden because I thought they might be a bit like them, lol.

Personally, I didn't really get hooked on The Dresden Files until book #3 or #4. I mean, I enjoyed the first few books well enough, but it wasn't until either Grave Peril or Summer Knight when I fell in love.

Thanks for the advise! I skipped book 2 and am reading book 3 now, it does seem somewhat improved to the 1st one. :)

Just so you know, there are some extremely important plot points and characters introduced in Book 2 that come up a lot in the future. So you might want to at least read a summary, or you're going to be somewhat confused once you get later in the series.
