Apathy has taken me over.

I watched Il Mare today, the Korean, original version of The Lake House, and oooh, it was beautiful. It took me quite a while to figure out how to use the subtitles, but it all worked out in the end. Loved the photography madly, as I tend to do with Asian films, and while the whole "Time Paradox" factor was low, it still felt supernatural enough to suck me in. Quite a lovely romance, the movie manages to not be cheesy at all. :) I'll have to go and see the Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock version and mock it, bwahaha.

I am bored out of my skull. Sure, I've been reading a lot of fanfic and all, but I've only left my house to go to flamenco in this week. So that sums to... About three hours outside in five days. I need to get out!!

To prove how bored I am: I've been surfing through the X-Men pages of wikipedia. FOR REAL. It was interesting, though (Did you know Iceman could be in the same league as Jean regarding power? Oooh, the fanfic writer in me squeed in joy at that). And I still haven't watched last week's Doctor Who's episode. ;-;

Does anyone have flat colored images they could share with me? I still have at least half of my acrylic paints, and I want to do something vaguely productive...

My HD is full of images from icon making, but I must confess I have only the vaguest idea what you mean by 'flat colored'...

I meant images with not a lot of shading, since that's just too hard to do with acrylic; but everything's fine, really, painting with these it's just supposed to be a bit of fun. :)

Possibly a bit of fun, then:

Oh, Il Mare sounds interesting, I want to see more Korean films as I've found out that they've got some good ones. You know one day I went through the X-Men pages at wikipedia too! haha. I learned a lot, stuff I had forgotten.

Oh, you should - it's delightful. :) Hehe, wikipedia is so much fun, isn't it? I have near 40 years worth of comic trivia in my head now XD

Just wanted to ask you something about acrylic... if you don't mind, of course.
Because I definitely don't understand how to use it, let's say, 'correctly'. Do you use it only for very realistic pics, for instance?

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you used acrylic for all of your colored pics!

Well, there's not much I can say, really, I've only used it about, uh, twice, and always just for fun. I just find it relaxing, actually, being able to give big brushes and not worry about details like with watercolors or getting everything around me spoiled, like with oils.

[identity profile] remeciel.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
This is so funny! as for me when I use acrylic, I always have to be careful about details; but when it comes to water colors, I realize that I do'nt really care about it, and that suits me better, actually. :))
Well, it does seem the technique has a lot to do with someone's PoV, and not only because it has to be used a certain way. :))

Thanks a lot, your comment helped me a lot. :)

(and I haven't used acrylic for years! *gg* what is your favourite technqiue btw? :)

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I have a friend that ACES in colored pencils, and she can't get why we all struggle so much with them XD One kinda gets used to something, I guess.

My favorite technique is definitely watercolors. Bad thing is, I'm self-taught, so I'm not really that good. But it's fun, so oh well. :)

[identity profile] remeciel.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just strated water colors this week, and it's definitely my favourite technique. :)
I can't wait to see my own drawings in a year or so! *lol* (because, as far as I know myself, I'll hate what I'm actually drawing right now for my portoflio.. *lol*).

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't they wonderful? So much freedom!

Hehe, I'm just like that, I draw somthing and two months later I hate it so much that I want to burn it XD But even with that, I love going through my oooold sketchbooks and see how I used to draw eight years ago, or something - it makes me hopeful that I'll get better *g*

[identity profile] remeciel.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You kept your drawings that long? I'm impressed. I mean, I've got in my attic old rawings I did when I was a little girl, but otherwise I don't have enough room to keep them all in the flat I live in... :/

But I completely understand what you mean when you look at your old drawings,: it always shows how your style has changed, and what it's better. :)

I watched The Lake House right after it came out, and I actually liked it a lot, much to my surprise. But it really made me want to watch Il Mare, since I'm sure its 100x better.

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm really curious to see it, but it's still not out in here ;-; But yeah, do watch Il Mare, you won't regret it. :)
