I suppose this is what happens when people write themselves into corners.

Doctor Who has never been able to be close to his companions, as their preoccupation with one another would hamper the story, much like how the lovey-dovey scened in romantic comedies take the longest time to pass.

I liked it when there was just a little twinkle in the eyes of Rose and Nine. The sort of, "There's something there, but this isn't the time nor the place to pursue it" feeling both of them had. I'll have to rewatch the earlier episodes of 2006, starting with "The Christmas Invasion", but I think Rose and Ten jumped onto the ship very quickly.

It had to end. It had to. If Rose was going to be with the Doctor until she dies, we'd be watching the two of them for a very, very long time. It seems that most companions don't last more than 2-3 seasons, so I think Rose leaving now is about par for the course.

It was a fitting end for her though. The Doctor's final gift to her was, more or less, her family as a whole, as it never was. At least she didn't die for real, that would have been tragic.

As for RTS's wet dream of Cybermen vs. Daleks, it was a nice way to bring back the parallel world and a place to leave rose where he can never go back to.

As for the Bride, What. The. Fuck.

It seems she's gonna have a big part in the Christmas Special this year, and that might be it. My Wikipedia trolling tells me they've already got his new companion set up.

I can only hope that series 3 will feature far less of Earth; much, much, MUCH less of London; and more interesting storylines like "The Empty Child" and "The Satan Pit", and even "Tooth & Claw".
