I'll be in New York from the evening of Friday the 21st to the morning of the 26th.
schwarzbrille, is there any way we could meet? (And my family, because they're paying for the trip and I can't tell them to bugger off ;-;) Also, do you mind if I ask you some bothersome turist-y questions?
Wee, I'm so excited about it! The only downside point is that Zoé will be having a concert in here on the 27th, and I don't think I'll have the money to go right after the trip...
Right, let's go into the sad stuff.
Doctor Who 2x13 - Doomsday: Let's go from the beginning, shall we? The cliffhanger resolution was much better than in RotC/AoS, and I rather liked Rose's bravado in pretending she knew everything about the Bad Wolf. (OR DID SHE PRETEND? TA-TA-TA-TA!!) That poor doctor was doomed since the beginning, for realz, although getting sucked to death was a shitty way to die. Jackie was wonderful in this, "there's fire extinguishers," XDD and her reunion with Pete (whom I honestly didn't expect!) "I don't care about money. How much?" and the "There wasn't any other man." with the Doctor and Mickey going *cough*Guy with fruit in his pockets*cough*
Jake and his SWAT team were PRICELESS. So much fun. It's somewhat hard for me to understand what both the Cyberman and the Daleks say, so while their little exchange was fun, I was too preocuppied with mourning Rose beforehand to care that much. The battle between them was cool, though, and of course one Dalek could pwn the bazillion Cyberman. Of course. The Doctor and Rose were so smiley during the time they were getting their plan ready that it was even more painful, and then the whole "I've chosen a long time ago and I'm staying with you," broke my heart. *cries a bit*
Then, I was all like "nooo, not into the void!!" because damn it, but Rose deserves better than that, and BAMF Pete appears and quasi-saves the day. And the world is EMO, for the ship has DIED. Long live to the ship. The music at those last moments was beautiful, and it made me cry some more as they're both resting against the wall.
And then the goodbye at the Bad Wolf Bay, and Ten burning a sun just to say goodbye, and Rose says I Love You, and the Doctor tries to say it too, and he's NOT ABLE TO and woah, I cried so much at that. And with his tears. I'm glad that Rose is alive, yes, and that at least she'll be working for the alt!Torchwood (and promise you, there'll be fic with alt!Doctor soon, I don't give a shit about the cheesiness), although yes, she's still moping and she didn't learn to be by herself. That's the reason most people hate her, and I can't bring myself to do that. I love Rose, however changed she end up from being with the Doctor, I just do.
And then of course that stupid bride had to come and RUIN THE MOOD. Bah.
So I loved it, in all it's sadness and depresive-ness (that is so a word, stfu.). DAMN YOU RUSTY. Sorry, had to get that out. I can't believe it's done, and it's OVER. BUAH. And no more Doctor until Christmas, too, that's too depressing. I'll just have to re-watch both sasons over and over again. ;-;

Yay!! I look forward to it. Admist the sadness, there were many plot bunnies - he must have spent months looking for her, which apparently makes me want to torture myself and write all sorts of angsty things.
Word to that summary - it was fantastic and utterly heartbreaking, and I'm very glad you're with me on the 'I love Rose' contingent.

*takes out her I Love Rose flag* We should have a group, yo - Sane fans through universe and time, or something XDD

I hadn't thought of alt!Doctor fic, but if you read any, rec. I'm hoping there'll be reunion fic, because nothing is impossible in sci-fi.
Someone shoot the bride!
(no sé porque te he escrito esto en inglés, pero anyway)

Jaja, ya empeze a escribir fic con alt!Doctor XDD
(no subject)

My own story has now been posted, too, and I'm loving the reviews :-D Can you guess which one it is? Moo ha ha ha.
(no subject)
Oooh, I'll try and guess! I think mine hasn't been posted, but I'm not quite so sure XD I do hope my giftee likes it - as I've said, she's kind of a BNF in that pairing...

I did not notice the Prodigy in this episode, but apparently it's there!

It did kind of stop your heart, though. And then as the credits rolled you could start laughing. It was all about the delayed reaction, I think...
However. Rusty. Stake. Fire. Yesplzkthx. :-D
OT
Re: OT
I hadn't heard of that meme, where is it?
Re: OT
There you go.

And definitely feel free to ask whatever you like! I've visited a lot, but only just moved here... three weeks ago. Still, if I can't answer your questions, I have a bevvy of savvy New Yorkers who can, soooo... ask away, my dear! ^_^

Well, my dad was raving about how supposedly tickets for museums and theatres and all that jazz were cheaper for residents; is that true?
Also, do you know something about touristic buses, or something?
Thanks, dear. :)
(no subject)
And... er... so far, no, I haven't seen anything that's cheaper for residents than visitors. Mostly, I think it's just that residents (or regular visitors) know where to get the best deals. As far as tips on getting around cheap, I'd recommend a) TKTS for cheap Broadway tickets, b) using your student ID if you have one (most museums have a student discount), and c) I've seen advertised this thing called a City Pass. You might Google it to see what's up, but as I recall it's around $60 per person, but gets you admission to the major museums, ferry rides to the Statue of Liberty, and other things like that - a great deal for the price, for sure.
Tour buses... I've never taken one, but there's LOADS of them. Again, I'd just Google a bit to see what you can find - it shouldn't be too hard at all.
Hope that helps a bit, love! ♥

Waaah, thanks! So many good tips. I'll go check them out right away. *g*

Doctor Who has never been able to be close to his companions, as their preoccupation with one another would hamper the story, much like how the lovey-dovey scened in romantic comedies take the longest time to pass.
I liked it when there was just a little twinkle in the eyes of Rose and Nine. The sort of, "There's something there, but this isn't the time nor the place to pursue it" feeling both of them had. I'll have to rewatch the earlier episodes of 2006, starting with "The Christmas Invasion", but I think Rose and Ten jumped onto the ship very quickly.
It had to end. It had to. If Rose was going to be with the Doctor until she dies, we'd be watching the two of them for a very, very long time. It seems that most companions don't last more than 2-3 seasons, so I think Rose leaving now is about par for the course.
It was a fitting end for her though. The Doctor's final gift to her was, more or less, her family as a whole, as it never was. At least she didn't die for real, that would have been tragic.
As for RTS's wet dream of Cybermen vs. Daleks, it was a nice way to bring back the parallel world and a place to leave rose where he can never go back to.
As for the Bride, What. The. Fuck.
It seems she's gonna have a big part in the Christmas Special this year, and that might be it. My Wikipedia trolling tells me they've already got his new companion set up.
I can only hope that series 3 will feature far less of Earth; much, much, MUCH less of London; and more interesting storylines like "The Empty Child" and "The Satan Pit", and even "Tooth & Claw".

Yeah, the new companion spoiler has been going around the fic comms for weeks already - the 'nooo, I'm gonna hate heeeer!' fangirl screams are beginning to get annoying, really. *eyeroll*
And less of Cardiff, too! My, but the entire Torchwood will happen there, and there's a LOT of cities in England... And I'm with you, I'd love to see more planets, it'd be wicked.

Jackie was fantastic in this one, she grew as the show progressed and I'm really glad the writers allowed her that much air time. It's so cute that Rose is going to work for Torchwood. and you're right, long live the ship, because just cause she's gone, doesn't mean it has to end. I'm still going to write you that fic with them in Chicago, the H/R I was writing got in the way, but now I'm determined to finish it.
(no subject)
Yeah, her speech about Rose being so changed was wonderful! And OMG YAYZ, FIC!! I'm sooo expecting it. *g*
