"Why is the rum always gone?"

Okay, I guess it's time for a real entry.

My grandma's in the hospital. We didn't find out until yesterday, since one of my uncles was out of town as well and the other one is like, afraid of cell phones, or something. The signal wouldn't have gotten to the States anyway. I haven't gone to see her yet, but she's all right, she only needed an IV to get a bit of strenght back. She should be out in a couple of days, God be willing.

It's nice to be home, although I never feel as alive as when traveling. Still, having lots of fanfic to read and go to bed at 4 am and waking up at 12:30 it's ALL kinds of wonderful. AND having my lovely bed back.

I finally got to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday. OMG It's all kinds of wonderful. They really outdid themselves with the sceneries - it's all so atmospheric, you know? You can almost feel the heat and the water and oh yes, yum. The plot... Was kinda hazy. The Flying Dutchman is such a lovely story, and it could have been used MUCH better than and with LESS seashells. I understand they want to show off their pretty graphics, but puh-lease. It could have been worse, though, so whatever. Jack... is Jack. Wonderful, intriguing, limp-wristed Jack. He's much more morally ambigous in this one, though, especially after the first part ending (in which the three of them seemed so BFF). Elizabeth got a lot of character development (Will didn't, because it's Orlando Bloom and the boy can't act for shit. He's still pretty, though.), although her 'crush' on Jack is driving me up the wall. It's either her with Will or them in a COMPLETE threesome or nothing for me. (But yeaaaah, it was hot.) Oh God it was so FUNNY!! I kept on laughing, and yet, there are really gruesome parts that are definitely not kid suitable, like those crows eating that guy's eyes? Yeah. I might not complain, I actually found that awesome, but you know. Therapy claims.

The Kraken was a bit too much, even if it was pretty impressing. Eeeeh, Norrington ate my heart, all scruffy and manly an WOW. I still don't know why people liked him before this one, but OMG HE'S SO DAMN COOL. And the fight with all the guys? WONDERFUL. Woah, am I really supposed to wait a year for the next one? ;-; *wants it now*

I'm already uploading the pictures from NYC, expect picspam tonight *g* Anyone kind enough to tell me how won Project Runway's second season? Please?

I really feel like writing X-Men Movieverse genfic, so, any ideas? Just a little prompt or character, people.

PS. I HATE the Mexican mail. Kindly do die, kthnx.

Just thinking of checking my flist is daunting. Please, tell me if I missed something important. Writers in my flist, link me to your fic. Seriously.

Aroma: Noun, Scent, Odour. (both As as in 'and', the way all As are pronounced in Spanish; soft R and O as in 'know') I like this word because it's so smooth and light, no hard syllabes or consonants. It's seldomly used, unless in poetry or pretty writing, which is a shame.

Chloe, because a) the judges somehow thought that 1980's New Jersey prom was going to be the next big style, b) Daniel V.'s line was dull and looked like stuff a stewardess would wear, and c) the judges hate Santino, whose line was unequivocally beautiful.

Bitter? Who, me? XD

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh. Well, my favorite was Daniel V. although I did find his collection a bit dull, but I like Chloe all right. It was a bit shiny, though...

And aww, Santino really outdid himself with that collection.

'cause Norrington was the straight guy. He was the Soldier, he was the Brave Man, he was regular. He did things by the book. Please, don't forget: Jack was a PIRATE. That means: Plundering. Stealing. Killing. Raping. And a lot of other, not-so-nice things. The marine, while still doing evil things, was roughly the same as a (corrupt) police force. So yes, Norrington was important.

Still didn't like him, but then I haven't seen DMC.

Ah, snail mail. Who *doesn't* hate it.

*pouts* Take away my pretty image, why won't you?

Nah, I know that, it would've been horrible to be/meet/see/whatever a pirate, but I guess that's why makes it so exciting in fiction - being able to close one's eyes to certain things.

Warning: Spoilers for DMC.

Finally have seen DMC. Funny movie; I liked Norrington, whose character development I can believe, and didn't like Elizabeth's development, which I can't believe. (By the way: As much as I like Lizzie, didn't it strike anyone else that Will gets bashed by Jones' troops, Jack gets bashed by Jones' troops, Norrington get bashed by Jones' troops, and Elizabeth *wipes the floor with them*?)

In short: Monkey? Cool.
Will? Little bit pale, but cool. (Sorry, but did he win one measly fight in the entire movie? Okay, he had great plans, which always went south due to a) sabotage [Jack/Norrington/Bootstrap) or b) being caught by a large number of enemies, but still...) Oh, and please, *talk to your betrothed*, Will.
Jack? *blinkblink* Okay. Very looking out for No.1. Liked the Boba Fett scene. Very ruthless. Very idiotic. (How about *telling Will* what's up? Teamwork is superior to backstabbery...)
Liz? Mary Sue in the making! Still cool. Well, it's Keira, and I can't be angry at her for more than 0.1 seconds. She did everything Will did, just better. Oh, and Darling? Please, do me a favour and explain to Will exactly *why* you kissed Jack, would you? Thanks.
Norrington: I can see it clearly now the rain is gone! I see a modified merchantman in the name of the Crown, sporting the Jolly Roger and hunting down the rich Spanish and French ships... Woo-hoo. (And suddenly I get the feeling that Norrington/Anna-Maria would be *fun*).
The surprise guest at the end? Was clear as soon as "You need a..." was said. Still: Boo-yah!
Davy Jones? Idiot. Stupid, stupid idiot. Still, am looking forward to what exactly is up with him and his ladybird. (And why do I get the sudden fear of Lizzie being the reincarnation of said 'bird? *blinkblink*).

By the way: Aroma. If there's an emphasis, it's on ro. Try saying it blandly, simply adding a, ro, ma to each other.

Oh, we have the same word in German, but the Spanish pronounciation is prettier. XD We mostly use it in the sense of artificial taste in food.

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? How do you pronounce it, then? *is intrigued*

[identity profile] moonix.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, well, just... more German. ^^ Where do you put the emphasis?

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the tonic syllabe is the the 'ro' part...

Writers in my flist, link me to your fic.

You know, I say this on a fairly regular basis, and people never do. *g*

Ah well. I haven't written anything recently - or not that isn't for a fest.

[identity profile] nekare.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I have noticed that - we need less humble people *g*

Ahh, such a shame. :(
