Really, why is it that the quality of television has been so good in this last few years? My last two fandoms have been tv shows, all I ever watch these days seems to be tv shows as well... They're bringing larger than life stories to the small screen, and it makes my heart soar because damn, but I'm a story-whore, and now I don't have to get my fix only in the cinema (although, you know, technically, I'm watching all of this in the computer, but bah, details, details.). Where is this coming from, you ask? I've been busy:
Torchwood 1x01 - Everything Changes: Torchwood blew me away. Really, it was much more than I expected. I like the team, they're silly and funny and WOOT! Morally ambiguous. Color me naive, but I really didn't expect that ending, but me? I know I'll love a show when they're not scared of killing a main character in the very first episode. Gwen is love. Really, I liked her loads, she's brave. AND CAPTAIN JACK. Oooh. SHINY. I like his coat, I liked his 'anticonceptives in the rain' speech, liked his cockiness. Liked that he's stillmadly in love looking for the Doctor.
And I especially, especially liked the fact that the Bad Wolf effect is still in him. Continuity love, yes, and man how much do you love the idea that not only Rose, but the TARDIS too cared so much about Jack to make him immortal. (Or was it unconscious?? WAS IT?? *fangirls*) I'll be watching the second episode today, yay.
MY GOD, I'D MISSED CAPTAIN JACK. He is too awesome.
Heroes 1x01 - Genesis: Wow. WOW. I get now why half my flist is gushing in praise for this. It was - it was awesome. It was a perfect first episode - showing us the characters, the stage, their connections - and woah, cliffhanger much? Did anyone noticed how we don't know any of the character's names for a long time? I liked that. I loved the music, the atmosphere, the PHOTOGRAPHY, OMG.
It definitely intrigued me, the way it feels like a big building up to something. Great, great, great.

The interesting thing about Heroes is there's a ready-made fandom out there -- fic comms, discussion comms, etc.
