The party last night was cool, even if Karen (teh best friend) left early with her boyfriend since she had another party. I looked kinda lame since everyone went overboard with their costumes (with till I upload the picture of the guy that went as Jack Sparrow O_o My, it was awesome) but it was all kinds of fun. We drove to a 7-eleven-alike store to get ice and since I was in the passenger seat (crushed next to another friend XD) everyone was like 'ALE, STEAL THE CAR!!' and I was like 'HELL YEAHZ' but I could hardly reach the pedals and the car just kinda stumbled on for a block until the car owner jumped on the trunk, ice and everything XDDDDDDD Fuck, it was awesome *g*

On friday, I went to see Volver (To Return). I really hadn't expected it to be that good, but my, it certainly was. I'm not that versed in Almodóvar films (the Almodóvar junkie is [livejournal.com profile] onadancefloor, cool girl that she is), but it's one of the best films I've seen of his. The story has so many smart, great twists, along with such great acting and omg the photography was just beautiful. I loved it, really, I did, it was sad in all the right places, funny in others. And woah, I'd forgotten that Penélope Cruz can act! The only other serious movie I's seen her in was in Todo Sobre Mi Madre, by Almodóvar also (I never saw Abre Los Ojos, the original version of Vanilla Sky, by Alejandro Amenabar, which is a shame) and YESSSSS, but she should stick to Spanish. Because for goodness sake, but I hate it when hollywood makes actresses exagerate their accent to sound 'cute' *eyeroll* Another thing, it surprised me how alike the little town was like our own. Really, I could've imagined my great-grandma in there, and it wouldn't have been out of place at all. And that includes the graveyard O_o

I wanna squee about Thursday's SPN and how awesome it was and how much I laughed at Dean's antics (YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT) and how great it was to have the main plot back (although oooh, but the facts are getting somewhat confusing), but I've got loads of homework to do, woe is me, so I'll do it tomorrow. Or when I watch it again. XD

I'm writing Dia de los Muertos SPN fic. FOR REALZ. *headdesk* BUT HEY, CAN'T FORGET ABOUT NOVEMBER THE SECOND, CAN WE? CAN WE?

Oh, yay! I'm glad you had such a good time :-D I'm so proud of you for trying to steal a car! *sniffles with pride*

We're watching an Almodovar film in my film class in a couple weeks... unfortunately that means I have to sit in the front row so I can read the subtitles :-P

BTW: I've heard that SPN will be on reruns again in just another 4 weeks. :(

Haha, I'm so proud of myself as well XD

Do you know which movie? I haven't watched many of his early ones, but I really like ¡Átame! (Tie Me Up!), which is pretty much the sole decent film Antonio Banderas has been in O_o Haha, Almodovar is awesome, I'm sure you'll love it. :)

;-; For how many weeks?

Ummm the English title is "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown." I'm gonna have to rent it, though, as I can't get to sleep tonight and there's no way in hell I'm gonna make it to an 8 a.m. class. *headdesk*

Not sure... my guess is that it won't be back till January, so probably 6-7 weeks. :(

Ah, I've heard nothing but praise from that one, although I've never watched it myself. Tell me about it when you do see it. :)

That long? ;-; How am I going to survive SPN-less?? O_o

I am SO jealous? Do you know how long we have to wait for "Volver" to come out here in the states? :( I've seen the preview (finally) in a theater, and it looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see it! I know what you mean about Penelope, she's wonderful in Spanish films, but can't get a break with American films. I haven't see "Abre Los Ojos" either, always meaning to see it. I think it would be better than Vanilla Sky because no Cameron Diaz, haha.

Also, can't wait to see the pictures of your costume, cute idea!

haha, ignore that first question mark, there should be a very excited exclamation mark in its place.

BWHAHA, WE FINALLY GET SOMETHING BEFORE THE STATES!! *grin* Just like with El Laberinto del Fauno, and Babel comes out in November 10 in here. BWHAHAHA, I say. But really, thinking about it, must of the most expected films this season have been by Spanish-talking folk... ODD. BUT ME LIKES.

Ooooh, it is amazing. It's such a step up from Hable de Ella, which I never understood the frenzy about. It's good but kinda meh, you know? and I still haven't seen La Mala Educacion... Haha, I was mostly, uugh, it has Tom Cruise in it. Should I go see it? ...Naaaah. *g* My mom saw it (Abre los Ojos, I mean) and said it was real tricky but good. *shrug*

Still, Guillermo del Toro deserves the Oscar better. *cheers for her city's resident genious*

I'D MISSED YOU, MY MOVIE-BUDDY.

*Hable CON Ella.

Haha, none of us seem to know how to type tonight XD

I know, you guys get all the awesome Foreign (well to us) Films. I really want to see "El Laberinto..." I didn't even know about it until I read that little review Neil Gaiman wrote. I think Babel comes out a week after your premiere. My mother is so excited about that movie, she can't stop asking when it's coming out. I can't wait to see it, the trailer is absolutely delicious with all the drama and the music is just superb. I was telling my mother that Latin American directors are stepping up, and in my opinion are surpassing American directors.

Oh god, Hable Con Ella I adore. I can't believe you thought it was ok. But I understand, my sister was freaked out by the whole plot twist at the end. And I can understand that though, for some reason I found it to be a terribly painful but beautiful film.

I think that Alejandro González Iñárritu will get a nod for Babel, because the hype around that film is very strong.

I MISS YOU TOO! I miss LJ, I really should get back on once things start slowing down at home.

Haha, that sounds funny, considering that 99.99% of the movies I watch are foreign to me XD I wanted to see Pan's Labyrinth since I heard about it a few months back, because, well, Guillermo del Toro, and besides, he's from my city, so it's a matter of pride, I guess XD

I'm soooo excited about Babel. It looks like it might surpass the other two parts of the trilogy, and that's a tough thing to do. Haha, just half an hour ago, I saw a review on E, I think, and they just massacred Alejandro's name XDD It's not that hard...

I watched both and it took me about half of the movie (vanilla sky) to get it was the same one. Ha, I'm such an idiot.

Volver was great, saw it a few weeks ago.

P. Cruz *is* Spanish. Why would she exaggerate her own accent? :)

I know that, she exagerates her accent while talking in English. It sounds pretty bad, if you ask me.

*eyeroll*

your grandma is taking care of her grave as well?

Nah, it's just that her house in the little town she lived in was pretty much alike to the ones in the movie. :)
