Two or three years ago, I was dragged along with my brother to the birthday party of the little daughters of one of my dad's coworkers. I've known the family all my life and they're nice people but damn are their reunions boring.
So. My brother and I ended up cutting the heads off of the already-beaten-to-death piñatas, spread ketchup all over the neck and hung them up from a goal post, where they glided softly with the breeze in front of a hord of five year old girls dressed in their princesses outfits getting teary eyed at the fate of their dears Cinderella and Snow White.
It was smashing fun. As of yet, we've never been invited to another of those parties again. Mission accomplished.
What's the point of this, you might ask? The other day, while I was driving to school, I saw a piñata head, dangling from a high pedestrian crossing or whatever they're called in English, just, there, a smiley piñata ten metres up in the air. *g* It was awesome, and it brought back so many memories. :))

My flamenco performance was real good, even if my brother bitched and bitched about having to endure another one of those. *eyeroll* And I'll be meeting with my closest high school friends for dinner, yay!

maygra is, probably, the best fic I've read in weeks. SPN, quasi-gen, AU, in which the world has ended and Sam and Dean struggle to find their place in the new one. This is... wow. Wonderful. One of those fics that are so smart, plot-wise that make you feel little, you know? Read it, flist. It is absolutely brilliant.

Honestly. I am... broken to bits sort of in awe. Best fic in weeks, hands down. Perhaps months. And then there's the fact that I still don't get bits of it, you may have to explain.
Anyhow, I have to go to sleep now, but will end by saying: I haven't exactly had memories brought back by piñatas, heh, but I know exactly what you mean about thing/place + memory association, and how it can just bring a smile to your face.

Oooh, I thought that was a linguistic thing, or something, because there were things I didn't catch either (I re-read the ending this morning, 'cause I was really hurried last night when I finished it, and it made lots of more sense). I loooove, getting people onto something that great, 'cause, well, it's like 'Yaaay, Sam and Dean are pseudo cowboys! Saving the new world from evil!' and then it turns out to be something completely different, and Dean-that's-not-Dean was such an awesome character, the same as broken!Sam.
I love fics that create such mythologies - worlds of their own, with their own rules and laws and everythings. ♥
It's awesome isn't it? Starting laughing in the middle of a lecture, or something because a funny word that triggered a memory. :) I♥brains

Exactly, exactly! Fic that uses canon/fanon is all very nice, but fics that are... enough to almost stand on their own, they're the ones that are really good to sink your teeth into.
And I love you muchly for getting me to read this. ♥

Hehe, exactly. :) I've always wanted to write something like that. Or in any case, at least apocalypsis!fic, but, yeah, dunno.

Your pinata stories remind me of Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite :-P
