And you know what? I miss Captain Jack. My Captain Jack, the one that flirted with everything that moved (and a few things that didn't), and was funny and awesome. I can't really see him in this Jack Harkness, oh-so-mysterious Torchwood leader. Like, for example, I just read Quantum is a just fancy word for "hell if I know", Jack/Ianto, (I can't really see this ship as possible at this point in the series, but I wanted to know what the fuzz was all about), and this Jack was much more Doctor Who's Jack than this entire season of Torchwood. *shrug* *sigh*

Anyway, Countrycide was doing rather okay, and the tension was good until Jack saved everyone by storming inside the cannible's house with a fucking TRACTOR. And stated shooting random legs. In slow motion. GAH. OMG LAME. LAME. *shakes head* Still, SPN's The Benders rip-off much? I was half expecting Sam and Dean Jumping inside and yelling 'but hadn't we dealt with you already?' (Then of course, Dean would go in a mighty crusade to find a sheep, and Sam would roll his eyes and tell him to let it go already and Dean would say "NO!! We're in fucking Wales, I HAVE to take a picture of myself with a sheep! Where's the Goddamn sheep when you need them?!)

Um. Other than that, Toshiko is the best of them all. Hands down. her psycho alien girlfriend got roasted. Poor Tosh. Gwen/Owen make me go EWWW. That might have to do with the fact that I can't decide whether Owen looks like a human, an ape, or a frog. Or a badly drawn cartoon. That too.

And Rusty's gay agenda makes me go *eye roll*. WE GET IT RUSTY. You don't have to go and make every single character bisexual, you know?

=D Just wait until you get to Episode 8. That's when it really gets awesome.

I know what you mean about Jack, though. I like new!Jack a lot, but he's not really what we've seen of him before, and I hope that at some point he returns.

And Rusty's gay agenda makes me go *eye roll*. WE GET IT RUSTY. You don't have to go and make every single character bisexual, you know?
That made me giggle. And actually, I do believe it's part of the job description - you don't have to be bisexual to work here, but it helps etc etc.

Oh, I've just seen it, it was great *g* Btw, do you know the name of the song at the end? Just after Suzie gets rekilled?

So that means he's still not Who!Jack by the end of the season? o_O That's worrying. He'll be back for some episodes in DW, right? Does that mean he'd go back to normal with the Doctor? (or maybe shag him a bit?)

Yeah, it's like they put adverts with the job description and the pay and blah blah blah 'oh! bisexuals get a larger christmas present, by the way! And more snogs!'

"WE GET IT RUSTY. You don't have to go and make every single character bisexual, you know?"

I don't know whether it was intentional, but Jack's tractor-rescue made me laugh myself silly, so I enjoyed it muchly for comedy value.

I think the Torchwood philosophy (the programme that is, not necessarily the Torchwood Institute) is that those sort of labels are irrelevant, so none of the characters have to be identified as gay/straight/bi. I really like it, actually, because I'm so bored of reading 'x and y angst about possibly being gay for ten pages'.

Countrycide was by far my favorite episode of the season, and I have to admit it felt very X-Files to me. However, it was intense and horrible but in a god way, but I must admit that the ending was just plain awful. It seems to me that this is a recurring theme with this show, they build up the episode into something interesting, but then the solution in the end is lame *ahem* the season finale.

Also, out of everything in that episode, cannibalism and all that the one moment that made me really cringe and turn away from the screen was Gwen/Owen. GROSS. I don't care how lonely and desperate you get, but OWEN???? I will never understand Gwen. I just don't like her and this made me dislike her even more, I like Rhys, nice guy. Oh well. I am also harboring a gigantic crush on Ianto, he is so adorable with his suit. Although Ianto/Jack is odd, and I don't understand if they have something or not. i wish they'd build up both of their characters. Also, my favorite is Tosh, she's just the best out of all of them. She has common sense and is just not as crazy and emo as all of them.

You know, this show has amazing potential, I wish they get better writers. Something needs to change, they could make this into a really interesting show.

Haha, sorry for going on but I just finished watching the season.

The one I liked best was probably The Keep On Killing Suzie because Suzie >>>> the rest of the Torchwood team. But yes, they seem to have a problem with endings, it's as if the writers kept on writing themselves into a corner and couldn't figure out a decent way to get out of it. And omg yes, the season finale. Thirteen episodes of anvils and THREE MINUTES of satan. Which had already been used in this 'verse, to boot. *eyeroll*

Oh man, I KNOW, Owen makes me want to hit things, particularly him. He's such a despicable character, and I've nooooo idea why Gwen went with him. Rhys seems like such a nice guy, too... Gwen has the potential of being a good character, she's kind of a selfish cow but the show doesn't deny it, which is cool. Now, if only the show was written better... Ianto/Jack I still don't get. Even when everyone told me that I'd dig it once I'd finish the season I just--the guy murdered his cybergirlfriend and then he was just happy happy and cuddly with Jack two episodes later? o_O If they'd just had a bit more of back story (for any of the characters - they all just appear out of nowhere and get no growing during the series)

But ooooh, yes, Tosh is the best. Best bestest. I do wish she'll get more screen time next season, and that she'll bond with Martha out of them knowing their teammates are such rubbish.

They probably can't afford it, but if Steven Moffat wrote an ep... It could be so great. Mainly, they take themselves toos seriously, and everything's angstalicious (Jack standing on the top of the building, anyone?). Doctor Who has been on for so long because it embraces its campiness and riduleness, which sits better with most of the audience.

Hehe, no worries - most of my flist is gushing love all over for this, and most people bite when you point out how stupid some parts are, so it's nice to talk about it with sane people. :)

I didn't like Suzie, but that might be because I don't like the actress that plays Suzie. I seriously thought they could have dragged the whole, "something dark is lurking and coming for you, Jack" for like another season, seriously. But they just decided to kill it right away. I suppose that's why they didn't get Bilius yet.

You know, what would have been interesting, if they just had one little scene where Ianto was feeling all angry and sad and Jack spoke to him and we saw how their physical relationship began. I have a feeling that he only got with Ianto to make him feel better. And then there could be so much angst with that, and they fight and break up or whatever and Ianto hates Jack. That'd give them a whole back story for Ianto. But I must admit, I still don't understand the whole Ianto/Jack thing. But I'm so glad he shot Owen. That was amazing.

Steven Moffatt? I never saw "Blink" was it good episode? I keep forgetting to see it, but I couldn't download it when I was watching the season, I'll try to find it. I have to agree, I think Torchwood, although they want to make it darker than Doctor Who, and we've already established that all the members of Torchwood have shitty lives, they can't go on with another season of that. Something has to change, they need to make it a lot funnier, or have something else, like scarier plot lines, although sometimes their bloody plotlines turn me off a bit. I know they do it for shock value but I don't enjoy it sometimes, with an exception of Countrycide, of course.

Exactly, they kinda need a theme for the series - they're just floating along, which nothing really grounding the series-- except the Doctor, and that shouldn't happen, considering that it's supposed to be a separate series.

Oh man, that's such an interesting idea! That would be pretty angsty but in a more human way, and it'd add so much depth of character... plz to be writing the next season yourself, kthnks? but omg yes. That and Jack firing Owen in the finale was ACE. I CHEERED. A LOT.

Oh, it's really good - it's the Doctor-lite episode, you see, but he managed to build rather interesting characters and it was easily the scariest episode of the series. I, like everyone and their mothers, would loooove for Moffatt to step up as main writer when/if RTD steps down after series 4.

Definitely. For one thing, the events from tLotTL has to be awknowledge, and Jack has to stop being so damn wangstalicious all the time. As for the rest of them... they're SUPPOSED to have grown as persons after last season. Let's hope they have.

Haha. They should just hire us to write the next Torchwood season. We'd rock it. We'd make it all Angsty but ending with pretty boys kissing all the time.

Oh yes, Owen getting fired was amazing.

I have yet to watch Blink again, I will do that today hopefully.

I hope it's more action packed, it seems to fit the show better to have people moving around all the time. And I think what worked in countrycide was that they weren't fighting aliens but people, and if they added more of that it might be interesting.
