I've just finished reading one of the most amazing books I've read in ages. Delirio, by Laura Restrepo. It's just, gah, wonderful and strange and unique and it made me gasp so much. It's about this literature professor, Aguilar, who goes in a short trip only to find a message on his recorder at his return telling him he's got to pick up his wife, Agustina, at a hotel. When he goes see her, she's lost her mind completely, and he stumbles through her 'recovery' as he tries figuring out her past and just what is it that happened to her in that weekend.

This is such a touching book. You can feel the characters, their voices, since it changes POV quite often, and Agustina's voice, especially, is deeply chilling. The prose is gorgeous, even when it takes some time to get used to it, since there are no quotation marks at all, there can be an entire conversation in one paragraph, and it balances between third and first person. It's definitely become one of my favorite books of all time. :))

In other news, apparently my folks won't be going to NYC after all. *headdesk* I spent all morning saving those lovely recs you gave me into my hard drive. *sigh* oh well, at least now I've lot's to read. XD

And I'm LAME SINCE I FORGOT ABOUT THE [livejournal.com profile] harry_and_ron round robin. Ugh, I feel so terrible about it...

But!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] anael!!!! Hope you had a wonderful time, and so sorry I couldn't write something longer for you. XD (I feel like such an infidel for writing this. but oh well, it was fun.)
