I went book shopping yesterday! It was ace. It's always such a thrill to have new books to read :3 I got: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, Castillos de cartón and Alias de geografía humana by Almudena Grandes, El Aleph by Jorge Luis Borges and Under the Volcano by Malcolm Lowry. Has anyone read any of them? Were they good/bad/meh?

I really want to write, but every time I try I can't seem to do anything. So! Leave me a prompt and I'll write you a drabble! Preferable fandom/pairings are Erik/Charles and Arthur/Eames, but I wouldn't be opposed to writing for Doctor Who. Go, go, go!

Today was... weird at school. There were free tacos and beer, for one thing. o_O But I digress. I have A Thing for special dates although I never really know what to do about them. So, in honor of this weird day and my unability to think of something other than SPN as of lately, have a ficlet.

(ALSO. What is this that I hear Jensen Ackles turns 30 today? Is he truly a leap year baby? Wikpedia says his birthday is March 1st, but whenever has wikipedia been right, anyway?)

I baked cupcakes today! Banana cupcakes with pecans and cinnamon and cream cheese frosting, actually. They're really really yummy and, FINALLY, kinda cute! I went a bit overboard with the food coloring, so the frosting is a bit ZOMG YELLOW, but they're still nice. :) YAYZ, especially after last week's fiasco, lol.

I also wrote a bit. Not exactly sure what it is, but I kinda like it. And I'd thought I'd evaded wing-fic. Hee.

Talk about speedy translations! It's pretty truthful to the original, though, so that's okay. :) I like how weird this actually turned out, lol. It's weird, though, a chromatic circle in Spanish is the spectre of colors, but in English it can also mean some weird musical thingy that I don't get. o_O It still fits, but... It's just weird.

I've been lazying around all day, doing nothing but reading fic obsessively (and cry a bit because The Jared Padalecki Untitled Project is over and I kinda wanted it go on and on forever). My brother's wangsting about wanting to see the wretched Chivas vs. Atlas soccer game but it's a local game so no tv station airs it until it's over and all I wanna do is go and eat a burger or something but everyone's rambling on and on about said wretched game, ugh.

Thanks to the goodness of both jeanne_dark and teffers, I'm all caught up on Runaways now.

While it certainly is quite fresh and new, it could do with a lot of work. The characters are a bit to stereotypical, but for the most part, they're quite well developed (the exception being someone I rant about in the cut), and interesting. Still, the story's enthralling (I stayed up until 3AM last night because I had to finish it), and for the most part, the writing's decent.

The art goes from BRILLIANT to meh to decent to good, something that my inner manga-freak is still having trouble to accept. I do have to say that I LOVE the ways mouths are drawn in this. It creates quite a range of expressions, and it looks loooovely. Chase's my favorite Runaway, dunno why, maybe because he's the only one that doesn't really fit in the group, the only 'normal' one, and yet he doesn't let it get him down. Gert is awesome. Too awesome. And so is her pet. Karolina may be emo sometimes, but her flashy flashy looks make up for it XD Molly is a sweetheart.

( SPOILERS! ) I was quite tempted to buy both of the volumes today at the comic store, but I'd already gotten The Sandman's 8th volume, Stardust's graphic novel (I only had the book before), Fables vol 1 and xxxHolic's 7th tankubon, sooo. My budget was running kinda low already *g*

Yeah Yeah Yeahs was AMAZING. Karen O's just insane, which made it all the greater. De Descartes a Kant, a local band, opened for them, and they were cool enough. My dad called me in the middle of Maps, and I kinda hung up on him XDD In all, it was wonderful, exhilarating and oooh, so cool. They didn't play No No No, though. Nor Bang. Oh well.
