So! The new Marina and the Diamonds album - it's very… dance-y 80s, isn't it? I'm not saying it's a bad album, because it isn't, it's fun and great to sing along to while driving, but The Family Jewels had a certain edge to it, a bit of an honest nastiness about the world. And that edge is still sort of in Electra Heart in the lyrics, but it sort of got buried in the upbeat tempo.

And anyway, it sort of suffered because Florence and the Machine's new song came out on the same day, and Breath of Life is such a gorgeous, epic, haunting song. SIGH. her music is so beautiful I just kinda want to roll around in it forever :3

Avengers out tonight in here! And because life is like that, it seems like the tickets ran out. WHY. WHY WORLD.

Not gonna lie, I really liked the new Shrek movie. Probably because, you know, canonical AU, oh yes, I'm a sucker for those. To be honest, I sort of liked that reality better. AH WELL. Also, can we discuss just how awesome and amazing and kick ass Fiona was? YES. So anyway, it was cute, funny, bizarelly serious and epic at times (the resistance!) and way, way better than the horribly dissappointing Shrek 3.

What I really wanted to see was Inception, but it's not out yet here. Ugh. So looking forward to that.

Also, may I say that I really like the whole iamamiwhoami thing? It's series of viral videos by an 'unknown' woman, for those of you that haven't seen it/don't troll ONTD. The first teaser videos were seriously creepy, and the aesthetic of them reminded me of Antichrist, in that whole organic, disturbing, eerie feeling, but, well, not as disturbing or eerie as Antichrist, which seriously helds an award on fucked up, messed up cinema. Anyway, the latest song is more pop than bizarreness, but I quite like it. Lastly, this rendition of MGMT's Electric Feel by Jonna Lee, the lady that is quite obviously behind the iamamiwhoami thing is really quite something. Gorgeous.

Seeing Arctic Monkeys live in a few hours! Wohoo! :DDD So excited about it. :3 Apparently the gig in Mexico City last night got rowdy, cause the tickets were oversold, but hopefully it'll be all right in here.

It's funny how we associate music with certain times of our lives, isn't it? How it sort of stucks to the moment in time where you first heard it, or how you associate it with a memory, or a thought, or a mood or a someone that was important. When I became obsessed with Humbug, I'd just come back from England, and it suited my mood perfectly. After all, the album is all about loss, and longing, and anticipation. I was pretty lovesick at the time, and a bit depressed, and pining after the boy terribly, so I just held onto the album a bit manically. I still miss the boy a lot, of course, but I'm used to it and it's manageable now, most of the time, but whenever I listen to the album I remember those days, and it gets me all sigh-y.

Ah well. The boy sent a text earlier hoping I wasn't going to fling my knickers at them, lol.

What kind of stuff you remember with music? Tell all, flist!

Heeeey. I saw Placebo on concert on Tuesday, which was the highlight of my week. WEE, PLACEBO. They mostly played songs from the new album, which is good, but not my favorite of them, but they played really well and I just love seeing them live. The gig was free, though (you had to win tickets via trivia games, etc) so half the people there didn't even know the band and the crowd SUCKED and I couldn't see that much of anything, but hey, FREE GIG, so. Still. Placebo! :DDD

I saw Jennifer's Body on friday and I was surprised by actually liking it. I mean, it's WEIRD, because it can't seem to decide between being a horror or comedy movie, but it was really self-aware and made fun of cliches and it was funny and overall a lot of fun. WHAT. Also, I have a big big crush of Amanda Seyfried, SO.

And today we got a turtle! It is cute and nameless as of yet. It is also lost in the shrubbery, lol, and we haven't seen it since like 5pm today, when it magically dissappeared behind the bushes. We're, ah, hoping it'll come out for food? and/or sun? And when I say we I mean all but my brother because apparently he's ALL OF TWELVE YEARS OLD and feels REPLACED by the turtle. Yeah. My brother's a big baby. Anyway, it's cute. While it was still visible I took it upstairs to show it to the boy, and he gave his approval, haha. He also suggested 'shelly' as a name, which says a lot about his witty, witty witticisms. SIGH.

I haven't had a chance to watch Merlin yet, but I will do so now! YAY.

Got my glasses today, they're quite pretty. :3 It's really WEIRD to use them, though, I'm not used to have something limiting what I see, if you know what I mean? Yeah. Anyway, so far so good. Can't wait for the boy to see me with them, lol.

GUUUUUYS, I know of Sigur Rós but I've never really listened to that much of them, where should I start? Help a noob out? I'm saying this as someone that's been hearing Saeglopur obsessively for the past few days. There's just so much JOY in the song, I love it. :D

Truth to be told, Metric's new album sort of disappointed me, barring a few songs, but Emily Haines' (sort of) solo work is quite captivating, in a soft, haunting way. It's nothing alike to her work for Metric, though, which might be a good thing? That means she won't leave the band, anyway, lol. Anyway, here's the new single, and not only the song is gorgeous, but the video is AMAZING and sort of creepy and you should all watch it now, k thnx.

Genteeeee!

I went to see Watchmen on monday! And then failed to blog about it, lol. But! It is AWESOME. EEEEH. I really really loved it, it was quite thrilling to see how it translated to the screen. Is it without faults? Of course not, but you can't really expect perfection from this movie. In all, it was really well done, it looked fantastic and the changes made overall sense. The opening credits were just gorgeous and a little piece of art on their own, the music and score were really atmospheric and oh, the photography, it was as detailed as the comic, which is definitely a good thing. aaaand now you can get double the spoilers for half the prize! )

I've been listening a lot to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's new album, It's Blitz! and I absolutely love it ♥. It is a bit weird how much this band has changed over the years, though - IsIs was really loud, much more like Fever to Tell, and yet this one feels more alike to Show Your Bones, in that it's more melodic and soft, but much more upbeat and Dance-ish, if that makes any sense, lol. (SYB for me will always be Southern lullabies, for some reason. This one has a hint of lullabies as well, but happier lullabies) In any case, I've been listening over and over for the past two days.

My laptop is baaaack and seriously improved - for the last, oh, two or three months, it'd been running slower than a fucking snail, and it refused to have sound online, meaning no youtube for me (it's sad how one can miss watching movie trailers and boys kissing in foreign soap operas so much).

So, of course, because I love being pointless, I'm going OHHHH and AHHHH at silly 'how to do simple hairstyles' videos, lol.

I'm listening to Dido's new album, and it's good, although it doesn't reach the dizzingly high levels of awesome of her first album. No Angel, man, that album's so fucking gorgeous.

Which reminds me! New Zoé album on tuesday! ;LAJSDFLJASDF. When Memo Rex (Commander y el corazón atómico de la vía láctea) came out, I sort of STALKED my favorite record shop for DAYS because it just wouldn't arrive! And after a couple of days of pretty much screeching Did it arrive today? Please tell me it arrived todaaaaaay at the people working there they all sort of knew and avoided me, lol. YAY LET'S DO THAT AGAIN, SHALL WE?

Fact: Time To Pretend has become that anthem that it is because it's Generation Y in a nuthshell: apathetic, hedonistic, and dettached. All instant gratification and fuck everything else.

Love it or hate it it's hard to deny how true it is.
